Off-white head, which dissipated, but not very quickly, and did not leave a clean surface, but left a foam layer on top, then a ring with lace. Aroma was a mixture of wheaty malt, fruity cherry, and spicy hops. Flavor was surprisingly fruity and dry, almost like wine (actually a lot like wine). It was a little sweet, with very slight chocolate tones in the background. Dry finish, medium body. I thought it would be more carbonated when I poured it, but it turned out to be very smooth. Creamy texture to the palate. Different flavor and experience than I expected. A nice ale. emobassfoo (178), Webster, New York, USA

Malty on the nose with chocolate, turbinado, and maybe even licorice in there. Great flavor! Wasn’t expecting a mouth full of roasted espresso beans and dark chocolate. Rich, full flavor. Smooth and slick on the tongue and throat, carbonated just right and very drinkable. Definitely my favorite Brooklyn out of the variety pack. Borup (1360), Albertslund, Denmark

Aroma of definate malts and hops. Flavor is full, creamy. Taste of light chocolate coffee, not over powering, veru subtle. Ends with the nice hoppish flavor that has been malted. Definitely different than an English brown ale. Very smooth. I will keep this on hand in my bar at home. cking (1041), North Canton, Ohio, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 6, 2007 Rated 4/24/07: Nice amber-brown pour with a constant 1/2" tan head with mild lacing. Smooth aroma of rich toffee and brown sugar with a healthy yeastiness. Mouthfeel is lively and quenching, I like my browns to be thicker and creamier but this is still good. Flavor is much like the aroma only more intense with a solid nutty flavor that almost has a dry roasted quality. A touch of hops comes across at just the right time. Mild tastes of fresh coffee and milk chocolate, faint but noticeable. Quite complex flavor for a brown ale I rounded that up to a 9 for good show. nearbeer (1887), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Flavor is chocolate, spicy raisins, marshmallow, molasses. Has a nice bitter herb and slight coffee finish to counterbalance all the great malt flavors. Palate is slightly dry and medium-bodied. Excellent brown. nqualls (1435), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 26, 2008 12 oz bottle poured into a shaker. Poured a dark mahogany color with a two finger tan head. Flavor was of sweet malt, nuts and smoke. Flavor was slightly nutty with malt dominating. A slight hoppy bite on the end. Medium bodied with good carbonation. My only knock on this beer is that it is slightly too light.
