COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Brown Ale, made exclusively with American ingredients, won Bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival in the Strong Ale Category in 1991 and in the American Brown Ale Category in 1992. Brooklyn Brown uses pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts to attain a complex creamy texture. It is more heavily hopped than its British forbears.

Many thanks to 3 Sons and dogs in Wexford tonight for providing the 2 and 3 oz free samples of Brooklyn’s various beers. I’m not sure if 3 ounces of beer is really enough to provide a rating, I like to chug 12 oz bottles. Anyway, here it goes. This Brooklyn brown ale was the best of the Brooklyn beers I’ve tasted to date. The pour is dark brown but not utmost. There is an alabaster head that rapidly fades to a slender coating after a few moments. The aroma seems to just about the same as many other Brooklyn beers but with more virago. With the initial taste I immediately sense some roastyness in there. Is this coming on like a mild stout or porter? Interesting but, yet, not overpowering. This is meliority for Brooklyn. The finish is not in you face, but it does let you know that it is a dark beer with that final malty bite and linger. Decent entry from New York. I like this, the aureate, out of all the Brooklyns I’ve tasted including chocolate stout and monster ale. This may be as good as wild goose or troegs rugged trail. As far as Brooklyn goes, East India pale ale is the next best thing in their lineup.

Aroma is a mix of dark malts and hops. The flavor is caramel, a mild sweetness, a hint of vanilla/cream and a hoppiness in the finish.

Bottle, Poured a mahogony color with medium head. Finally got around to rating this one. Nice aroma of coffee and chocolate on the nose. Med-light bitter, med-light sweetness. Medium bodied, creamier texture. Smooth, well-balanced, full tasting brown. Coffee, cocoa, caramal, roast malt. Always a good beer.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with medium light brown head. Aroma is dominated by hops (resin and flowers) but also malt and caramel. Taste is medium bitter and light sweet. Body is watery to oily with mild carbonation. Finish is bitter and hopsy with a bit too much perfume for my taste (i.e. reminds me of IPA)
