Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Brown Ale, made exclusively with American ingredients, won Bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival in the Strong Ale Category in 1991 and in the American Brown Ale Category in 1992. Brooklyn Brown uses pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts to attain a complex creamy texture. It is more heavily hopped than its British forbears.

It looked great, deep reddish-brown, and smelled like heaven, but it was too malty for my tastes. Still a fine, relaxing session beer, but I would have like a more balanced hop-to-malt ratio.

Bottle. Nice tan head with good duration. Color is brown. Aroma and taste are rich with nuts, caramel, some roast malt and notes of fruits.

On tap @ playwrights, 8th ave location, on Halloween. Dawns a delightful chestnut brown with fluffy beige head. Taste is sour citrus combined with sweet malts, earthy tones, and roasted hazelnut. Really, really good. Call me crazy but it’s near amazing for the style... just wish I saw more hops like DFH IBA

(bottle from j12601). Dark brown color. Medium tan head. Roasted malt aroma. Watered down malt flavor. Avg duration. Smooth finish, with light dryness at the end. Thin texture. Moderate carbonation. Spare lacing.

From dmac via trade. Poured cola-brown with a short, off-white head and spots of lacing. The aroma was roasted malts, light caramel and thin chocolate. The flavor was roasted malts and caramel and trended towards sour on the finish. Thin body. A wimpy finish for an otherwise serviceable beer.

Pours a dark chestnut brown color with slight mahogany edges when held to a light source and a thin half finger tan head that quickly fades into a thin ring. Not much in the way of lacing. Toasted nutty malt aroma with subtle dark fruit notes and slight earthy hops. Slightly watered down body with hints of toasted malt, hazelnut, chocolate maltiness, a slightly roasted toasty presence with subtle hops and a slightly dry finish. Very well balanced and easy drinking session beer.

Tried a sample at Brewfest Tallahassee. A hint of roasted coffee but mainly sweet caramel and toffee.

12oz - Nose is somewhere between nuts and sawdust. Good color, not much head or carbonation. A little on the sweet side, with some roasted notes. A good representative of the style.
