DSG (452), Yuvalim, Israel May 14, 2008 Bottle sample at a beer festival in kibbutz Maabarot, May ’08. Clear brown with a beige head. Lots of hops in the aroma with some caramelly malt notes and some nuts. Sweet malty flavor with a nice nutty character, some fruitiness and a bitter hoppy finish. Medium-bodied.

Sweet and smooth like honey but still with a good balance of hops. Sampled at the St. Pete Florida Craft Beer Fest. jehoey (696), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 20, 2008 pours brown with small off-white head. aroma is earthy hops with some carmel and biscuit notes. same for the flavor. I wasn’t impressed, I usually like a good brown ale and this one seems to be well liked. I’ll have to try it again sometime. jkaiser (50), USA Jul 14, 2008 Wow! Very nice. Lacing good. Head good. Chocolate color. Not complex. Best part is the flavor of chocolate and coffee that hits you on the back side. Next to now bitterness. Beautiful aroma of complex malts. Winner winner chicken dinner! satan165 (69), River Grove, Illinois, USA Jul 12, 2008 the numerous malts make themselves known in the appearance which is dark even for a brown. not as sweet as some browns, or as sweet as i expected based upon the beer and breweries reputation. this is much more tolerable with a more rounded flavor that doesnt present an excess of sweet/sour, its actually well balanced and refreshing for the style. despite its low ABV, there seems to be a hit of unhidden booze that makes itself known late in the taste, its a welcome and interesting addition, and a further spin on the style garrett oliver has conjured up as a tribute to the drinker.
