COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Brown Ale, made exclusively with American ingredients, won Bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival in the Strong Ale Category in 1991 and in the American Brown Ale Category in 1992. Brooklyn Brown uses pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts to attain a complex creamy texture. It is more heavily hopped than its British forbears.

Red brown with a little off white head. Very slow moving carbonation. Toasted woody malt, sappy aroma. A bit of citrus carries over. Well balanced. Strawberry. Spiced bread crust. Light caramel. Chocolate. Apple and stewed pears. Nuts and buttery. Citric finish. Good little beer. Best before August 2004, whatever.

Aroma is a mix of dark malts and hops. The flavor is caramel, a mild sweetness, a hint of vanilla/cream and a hoppiness in the finish.

Bottle, Poured a mahogony color with medium head. Finally got around to rating this one. Nice aroma of coffee and chocolate on the nose. Med-light bitter, med-light sweetness. Medium bodied, creamier texture. Smooth, well-balanced, full tasting brown. Coffee, cocoa, caramal, roast malt. Always a good beer.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with medium light brown head. Aroma is dominated by hops (resin and flowers) but also malt and caramel. Taste is medium bitter and light sweet. Body is watery to oily with mild carbonation. Finish is bitter and hopsy with a bit too much perfume for my taste (i.e. reminds me of IPA)
