3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Had this on draught last night at Yogi’s during the first period of the Flyers’ epic comeback over the Bruins. Nose is relatively indistinct, light chocolate and even lighter roast. Pitch pour with a light brown head. Sweet taste, light roast, oily oaten texture, faint vanilla and chocolate. Thin, slick, and a bit watery, malty backbone is a little weak. The base porter needs some work (i.e., umph), and the cookie jar accents need to come a bit more to the fore.

On draft at Cap Ale Downtown. Pours a rich dark brown with good tan thick head. Reminded me of gingersnap cookies. Raisin, Caramel, chocolate and roasty, but definitely not a stout. Good silky medium chewy body. I really dug on this beer, must try again.

Draft. Brown pour with some beige head almost looked like soda. Raisins malts and vanilla aroma. I would warm this up a little bit before serving. Flavor follows, dark fruits, sugary malts and vanilla, extract perhaps.

On cask at the Whole Foods / CCB Cask Event. It pours deep mahogany with ruby edges and tan head mixing with lighter white foam looking regions. The aroma is overall pretty light in strength bringing up spices, prunes, coriander, yeasty spices, malts and prunes. The taste is pretty smooth and sweet with sweet malts, chocolate malts as well as prunes and plums like dark fruitiness to go along with some malt roastiness around the edges. Prunes, cherries and plums seem to head this thing off into the after taste.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft. Tan head atop black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, roast, chocolate, some raisin. Taste is moderately sweet, milk chocolate, some raisin, roast. Creamy medium body, alcohol well contained. The roast doesn’t belong in an oatmeal raisin cookie, but the beer is quite appealing.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled on draft at the Headkeeper in Greensburg PA this beer poured a dark black color with a medium sized creamy tan head that lingers and produces decent lacing. The aroma was lightly toasty and malty. The flavor was sharp raisin and rum with toasty malts and an odd sour fruit undertone that was very difficult to place. There was a touch of molasses underneath. The finish was long with sour raisin and rum. Moderately full bodied. Interesting.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at Smokin’ Joes. Dark sepia body, light beige head goes quickly to a ring. Nose has sugar and milk chocolate, disappointingly alcoholic. Flavor has more chocolate and some roasted malt, cookie finally appearing in the finish. Not really sure what to make of this one, an odd mix that doesn’t get anywhere.

Bottle @ Cigar City Brewing’s Hunahpu release. Pours black color with tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, raisins and some vinous notes. Similar flavors. Medium body with average carbonation. Thanks to JW77 for sharing this.
