COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Once a "Ghost Bottle" that we only made for ourselves, Brooklyn Cuvée Noire finally journeys beyond our walls. A stout-like blend of German and British pale and dark malts, this beer fermented with Belgian yeast and then spends more than six months in Kentucky bourbon barrels. Dry, brisk, and complex, showing notes of chocolate, coffee, citrus, vanilla and coconut, Cuvée Noire is refermented in this bottle of Champagne yeast. It is a most excellent accompaniment means to dinner.

Courtesy of Mr and Mrs Pourhouse, thanks! Pours deep mahogany with thin off white head. The aroma is pretty rich and sweet with black licorice, yeasty spices, black strap molasses and some dark roasted malts. The taste is a bit spicy with black licorice and spicy yeastiness moving then toward dark roasted malts, prunes and drippy messy ripe plums. It ends a bit spicy with sweet malt as well as with roast and dark fruity esters. Nice stuff.

Tap at Beer Table and a very good price of $7 for a monstrous tulip- maybe a full pint worth! Pours a very deep woody ruby brown with a massive tight off white head. Aroma is spicy, phenolic, yeasty, burnt toast, light smoke, hints of chocolate malts, spice, pepper, almost a saison-like yeast hints of roast and salt water-sea foam. Flavor is light roast, some toast, ok chocolate, bready, burnt notes light ash, spice, caramel, moderate sweetness, peppery spice, cardamon dark spices, grass, herbs, leather and earth. Silky, yet earthy and dry with a spicy finish. Easy drinking. Nice stuff.

Draft at Redlight Redlight. Pours an extremely deep mahogany color, very close to black in fact. It pretty much borders on Belgian stout in terms of appearance. A small, creamy, dark khaki tinted head settles to a thin outer ring, leaving tattered, fine sheets of lace behind. The nose tows the line between dark and roasty British porter and a mild Belgian strong ale. Notes of dry, slightly lactic chocolate are met with scorched candy and caramel in the malt base, hinting at lightly sweet dark fruit, namely raisin and plum. Hints of clove and estery, fruity Belgian yeast are accentuated with soft wisps of candied orange peel. Flavors too are very well balanced, suggesting that mildly lactic British chocolate malt and burnt caramel in the foreground, countered by soft, dark spicing, earthen hops, and bittersweet orange peel. The orange and some hints of orchard fruit serve to brighten things up. It’s quite yeasty overall, hinting at fruit bread and drying dough. The palate is lighter than expected, showing lively yet soft/pillowy carbonation. It finishes on the dry side for the style, which is nice. Good stuff. Better than expected.

Tap. Moderate aromas of chocolate and molasses for the malt, light cooked orange and dough for the hops and yeast with background notes of licorice and over ripe banana. Head is thin, wispy off-white with fair lacing and good legs and is mostly diminishing. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and bittersweet. Palate is medium, a little slick and has a lively carbonation and a dry finish. the very unique aromas, though not very beer-like, are very intriguing and pleasant.

draft @ redlight redlight. Mild roasted malts on the nose with chocolatey bananas in the background. Pours black with a thin off white head. Chocolate malts up front with some roasty notes with sweet banana and tropical fruits coming through with a milk chocolate finish with some caramelized sugars. Pretty good, slightly thin.

Draft. Pours a dark bruin amber bruin body with a tan head, and decent retention. Fruity etoh aroma. Notes of banana’s, apples, light caramel tones. Sweet with hints of chocolate, nuts, and fruit furthering the sweetness. A light bittering hop character. Decent Ale.
