COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Once a "Ghost Bottle" that we only made for ourselves, Brooklyn Cuvée Noire finally journeys beyond our walls. A stout-like blend of German and British pale and dark malts, this beer fermented with Belgian yeast and then spends more than six months in Kentucky bourbon barrels. Dry, brisk, and complex, showing notes of chocolate, coffee, citrus, vanilla and coconut, Cuvée Noire is refermented in this bottle of Champagne yeast. It is a most excellent accompaniment means to dinner.

The aroma is Very strong burnt malt and chocolate. The appearance is typical for the style. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall interesting.

Bottle. Black with a thin mocha head. Reminds me a lot of Black Ops in the sense that I get almost nothing but bourbon barrel to start. Some orange peel starts to shine through as the beer warms. Good.

It's a ideal beer for the serious beer drinker. The combination of a bourbon barrel storage and nice malt that is very well put together. Drink slowly and enjoy ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

GABF 2014. Dark brown color with a large head. Light bourbony aroma with some toasted bread. Light roasty flavor and light barrel character. Kind of an odd tang on the finish.

(bottle) Sampled at the Swiss Re beer tasting event at Steamers Landing in NYC. A bit over hyped for the taste. Noticeable alcohol flavor and not as smooth or complex as purported. Perhaps needs more aging.

SWBF 2014. Pours black with almost no head. Aromas of chocolate, burnt sugar, leather, tobacco, oak and some hints of smoked bacon. Taste has that roasted oak and bacon flavor with some burnt sugar as well and lurking in there some hints of vanilla and caramel. Mouthfeel is a bit thin with no carbonation.

Bomber thanks to respertftw. Dark brown with a beige head. Smells like straight bourbon. Vanilla, slight caramel, but mostly watery bourbon. Super thin and weird. Not at all like any of the styles it purports to be.

Pour@5e Mondial de la Bière, Mulhouse. Upfront bourbon barrel, vanilla, dark chocolate and orange peel: perfumed bouquet. Belgian yeast quality enters in taste, along with heavier dark malts. Mouthfeel of an elegantly spiked, fluffy chocolate mousse: the champagne yeast has done its work here. Remarkably easy drinking, well designed for an upscale market.
