Bottle @ BCTC 2010. Rich brown body, tan head. Nose is bourbon, vanilla, caramel - quite sweet. Flavor is bourbon, vanilla, dark honey, caramel. Nice woody vanilla finish but pretty sweet overall.

On tap. Pours a beautiful and warm reddish brown with a small, off-white head. Aroma has a little Bourbon and overripe fruit. Medium-bodied, dried sweet fruit and again discreet, sweet Bourbon accents. Hardly any bitterness. Delicious. 070510

Murky brown pour dark amber ... off white head that thinned out and hung around the rim .... lots of lacing ... sweet malty and nutty aroma .... sweet caramel malt taste, tiny bit of a bubblegum taste, little oak, vanilla and nutty with a nutty malt finish .... balanced and tasty

A Mes rate. Draught at the White Horse.
Very dark amber with a faint off white head. Nice roasty stuff on the nose with a distinct ashy character along with some dark jammy type notes and a delicate sweetness. Similar flavour but a little better. Hints of yeast and alcohol along with some faint notes of peat and maybe a little cherry. Rich and warming in the finish. Just a tad on the thin side for what it is but pretty good stuff overall.

A decent offering, well worth the money and i’d possibly get it again. Just didn’t knock my socks off. Drinking barrel aged beers in excondido is just a bad idea, drinking them by the growler is even worse. seriously nate, stop trading for growlers. Good beer, barrel wasnt overpowering, base beer was a little thin and bland. 6oz is enough.

Draught at KØ10. Weak port aroma. Almost clear dark brown colour. Good vanilla flavour. Slightly spicy.

On tap at Max’s in Baltimore, 4/22/10: Transparent dark mahogany with a thin ring of off-white head. Aroma of sweet toasty dark caramel dripping with bourbon and vanilla oak. Starts with decent body and carbonation with some toasty malts and cookie dough to balance the strong, but smooth bourbon flavor before a drier nutty finish. Could use a little more fullness, but still a fairly complex brew.

On tap at the White Horse American Beer Festival, 4th July 2010. Reddish dark brown with a white head. Nose is red wine, alcohol and a hint of molasses, oak and bourbon. Taste is similar. Very smooth with a delicate finish. A great dark beer.

Pours a clear brown color with no head. Aroma of rye, bourbon, and vanilla. Flavor is sweet-vanilla, dark fruit with a touch of rye and bourbon. Nice beer!

On cask at the White Horse Parsons Green London. Pours dark brown with a thin whispy head. Aroma is of bourbon with caramel. I have never had a beer that tasted more like a JD and coke. The flavour is a sweet bourbon with caramel and vanilla.
