COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn East India Pale Ale, originally a summer seasonal, has been getting raves since becoming a year round offering in 1996. Garrett Oliver, a student of English brewing and beer history, uses English malts and hops to brew his EIPA in the classic, heavily-hopped style of the 19th century beers created for British soldiers serving in India.

This beer poured an amber color and formed white head that left some trace lace as it subsided. An aroma of malt and hops was present. A flavor of malt and hops with some caramel present. A touch of hop bitterness was present in the finish. Not a bad IPA, but not the best offering from this brewer.

Orange/Golden brown in color. Too small of an aroma to distinguish. Pours a small head and leaves a nice lacing on the glass. The flavor is sort of weak. Not what I was expecting. Basically just a mild sweetness and a very subtle hoppiness. Not too impressive overall.

Mostly golden color with a short, fizzy head. Slightly floral aroma. Not an impressive India Pale. Not nearly enough hops to satisfy, and has a sort of "swilly" undertone. I won't be buying this one again.

Lost points from the plastic cups used at brewery. I do understand the CYA aspect, but it sure does detract IMO. Perhaps this is too far to the Brit style of under-hopping for my tastes. Not a bad beer, but expect, hope for, pray to have, desire, enjoy, bark for, smile at and more for hops. Not to be found in the amount that satisfies me. Something off in the balance. That and not finding Mittenstein there in his wrestling mask made me sad.

Halfway between the West Coast and the UK...just like Brookyn (well, sort of). Which is to say, in flavor terms, somewhere between mild bug repellant like you'd have in the Oregon woods and fat drippings off a roast leg of lamb. (on tap, Brooklyn Brewery)

True pale ale color. Small head, decent lacing. Citrus (lemon/lime) aroma. Nicely hopped taste, but still had some malt balance. Clean, bitter aftertaste.

A very good beer. Full-bodied, in keeping with its deep copper colour. A wallop of hops and enough malt to keep things on track. If had on draught, it can really sneak up on you!

a tasty pale ale. not as bitter as i expected from a strong india pale. the aftertaste is actually better than the initial impression.

Dark amber, white head. Bitter, with initial hint of maltiness that fades into a bitter aftertaste. Very English in character.

This is a really good IPA...except for the BB aftertaste. Broolyn Brewery ruins yet another good beer...
