johninmelb (688), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Jul 6, 2008 Fresh and hoppy nose with citrus ... etc etc. You know what? I’ve rated so many of these American IPAs now it’s pretty much a standard thing. It’s a good American IPA, that’s about it. keepersj12 (774), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA Jul 6, 2008 A little thin and watery for me. Aroma was nice and flavor was good. About an average IPA. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA Jul 4, 2008 Clear amber, thin head. Super floral aroma with malt, citrus and fruity esters. Nice malty flavor but the hops aren’t as great in flavor as they are in the aroma. Noticeable alcohol. The bitterness is a bit rough. Not bad. bag (103), Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 4, 2008 From bottle... poured deep gold with fruity aroma. Flavor is weak citrus ad mighty bitter. Decent, but not among my favorite IPAs. knights97 (80), Tennessee, USA Jul 2, 2008 Updated: Jan 1, 2009I’m a fan of hoppie beers that are thick in body and this one does it for me. VeryAmerican style IPA type with your taste of citrus balanced with your hop, copper in color and no bitterness to this one for me. MI2CA (1260), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Jul 1, 2008 12oz - Aroma of earthy hops, musty caramel malt and sour fruit. Pours transparent orange with a small head and good lacing. Flavor is pungent sour citrus hops and grassy malts. Palate is tart. Different but more sour and funky than I expect from an IPA. I will try it again for a rerate since it is possible this was past it’s prime. trapez (766), Hilleroed, Denmark Jul 1, 2008 Bottle 0.355 l. Bought Kvickly Hilleroed. Fresh cascade hops and fruits aroma. Colour golden amber with small white head. Aroma is more promising than the flavour. Hops bitterness is prominent with a hint of nuts. satan165 (541), River Grove, Illinois, USA Jun 26, 2008 Updated: Jul 27, 2008it seems to me that drinkers of american IPAs who have any class will be quickly turned on by brews of this style. this proves that IPAs can be heavily hopped yet be balanced and interesting rather then an overwhelming blast of hops. i love hops more then many and as much as most but drinking a beer like this truly celebrates hops whereas others would say the same of their quadruple IPA @ 18%. like most things, americans have taken a good thing and slaughtered it, while our friends overseas have much more of a sense of moderation and of being able to appreciate things for what they are. clearly garrett oliver is part of that group, though certainly this he is not from abroad. this beer is what i thought it would be, thuoght it was certainly not dissappointing in that respect.
