Commercial Description:
Brooklyn East India Pale Ale, originally a summer seasonal, has been getting raves since becoming a year round offering in 1996. Garrett Oliver, a student of English brewing and beer history, uses English malts and hops to brew his EIPA in the classic, heavily-hopped style of the 19th century beers created for British soldiers serving in India.

Bottle. Deep copper color, noticeable head. Hoppy, malty aroma. The taste is big on hops and caramel, with a wonderful, bitter finish. A great beer that goes well with sea food.

Thanks to Ian for the bottle. Pours copper colored with a thick white head. Big malt aroma with noble earthy hops. Malty taste with lots of earthy bitter hops and a clean finish. Solid beer.

Gold amber with a white head. Spicy floral hops with a hint of lemon. Utterly beautiful. Sweet, citric taste with pine and thick honeyed malt lurking unsuspected in the background. Mid bitter finish. A lot going on here, and all of it enjoyable.

Draught at the Magician, New York, New York. A well-balance beer with flavours of hops and citrus. The aroma of pine was a bit odd; almost like cleaning products. Not bad.

A solid IPA. Color is copper with a fairly nice head and a good amount of lace on the glass. The aroma is floral and hoppy with some spice character. Sweet and hoppy tasting, bitter finish and a nice malty balance. Also, when compared to another IPA (Stone IPA) this was maltier and not quite up to that level. Still, this is a nice IPA and I look forward to having it again.
