Brooklyn East India Pale Ale, originally a summer seasonal, has been getting raves since becoming a year round offering in 1996. Garrett Oliver, a student of English brewing and beer history, uses English malts and hops to brew his EIPA in the classic, heavily-hopped style of the 19th century beers created for British soldiers serving in India.

Diminishing head, but lasting throughout the glass. Less pronounced flavor, malty and fruity. Bitterness becoming thinner, going to sweet, lasting finish. Very light, although alcohol can be felt.

I do not wax on poetically about beer but I do know the quality of a beer once tasted. This review is not about my tastes but reinforces the numbers, which are arbitrary.

Clear amber with small off white head that quickly recedes to a film. Biscuity malt aroma, with some marmalade notes. The taste has a toasty malt character, grassy and grapefruit citrus hop tang, a little marmalade. Light to medium bodied, reasonably low carbonation and a little acidic bite without any sourness. Solid if unspectacular IPA.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle, best by July 2016, poured into a snifter. Clear light orange with small white head. Aroma is citrus hops, medium body, lower carbonation, and some lacing. Taste is citrus hops with nice malt backbone. Solid beer.

Ganske udemærket IPA øl. Naturligvis fra USA. Det er en forholdsvis mild humlebombe-oplevelse - som jeg vil anbefale til 'nybegyndere' indenfor IPA. God oplevelse.

Pours orangey amber with good beige head. Very clear. Aroma is predominantly malt with a hint of hop and metallic tones. Taste is dank hops, slightly foresty but not piney. Good carbonation and average mouth feel. Finish is sweet with a touch of honey and very little bitterness.

Bottle at NavnelÝs concert at Jazzhouse. Medium-bodied, very drinkable, ultimately a hoppier version of a traditional English IPA. Brooklyn is really getting their standard beers out at non-beer bars and venues, which is a welcome relief from the pale lager syndrome, but compared to other of their beers (Sorachi Ace saison!) it is pretty average.
