Commercial Description:
Brooklyn East India Pale Ale, originally a summer seasonal, has been getting raves since becoming a year round offering in 1996. Garrett Oliver, a student of English brewing and beer history, uses English malts and hops to brew his EIPA in the classic, heavily-hopped style of the 19th century beers created for British soldiers serving in India.

Bottle 0.355 l. Nice looks, reddish brown. Fresh nose, nice hops. Great flavor with juicy and mouthwatering hops. Never harshly bitter, but nicely fruity. Very good. Slightly winey in a good way, altho alcohol is amazingly well hidden.

Golden caramel brown in color. Looks decent. The hop smell is too subtle to be an IPA. The hop smell is not what I expected. There is some subtle malt smell as well. I just think that the aroma is a big let down in the realm of hops. I have used this hop I believe in my home brewing operation. The hops smell like vegetables, and I am smelling that in the aroma. The range of hops used doesn’t seem great. Decent palate. Not too creamy and not too thin, average. The malt flavor is noticeable in the flavor, and so are the hops, but they just don’t show up in the flavor as I would like them to. The bittering hop is pretty good, I can taste the bitter in the back of my mouth, but the flavor hop is just lacking. Decent brew, it is in the right percentile if you ask me.

Poured a deep amber body with a healthy looking cream head. Big floral, sweet malty, nutty nose. Very impressive nose. Potently hopped and malted for an English style IPA. Grapefruit and resinous pines in nose, but not cloying. Finished smooth and proved to be quite enjoyable.

Not a bad sipping beer as its lighter than other IPAs. Good starter beer for your friends.

Tasted 2007-10-27. Fresh bottle, 35,5cl. Pours golden orange, clear, with off-white head. Malty aroma of hops. Not all to powerfull. Flavour ditto. A bit weak for my likening, but OK.

A very good IPA. The hoppiness is more prominent in the aroma than in the flavor, and there is more ester flavor in this beer than one would expect for an IPA.

12 ox bottle from Quake1028; Nose of citrus and flowey sweet hops along with a small vanilla note; Very lightly hazy orange with a medium off-white head; flavor is hoppy with light bitterness along with some balancing caramel sweetness. Not a hop bomb, but lightly hopped and balanced.

12 oz bottle: aroma is a delicate yet bountiful bouquet of English hops. Aromas of pine, citrus, and an earthy dustiness all rise from this light amber colored beer that pours with a decent sized head that dissipates into a film and leaves some lacing on the glass. light amber in color. Flavor is great, lots of citrus, slight pine, and the earthy dustiness that embodied the characters of English hops. All of this is on top of a solid backbone of malt which makes for a nice balance. Medium body. quite enjoyable.
