patty26 (95), New York, New York, USA Sep 17, 2007 Pours a beautiful copper color with a sizeable, although by no means enormous, white head. The aroma is of sweet citrus peels coupled with a generous hoppy bite. The mouthfeel is smooth as a baby’s butt. Tastes like a solid IPA, with hints of citrus fruits (predominantly orange) and a sizeable hoppy bite at the end. This is yet another terrific offering from Brooklyn Brewery. emobassfoo (178), Webster, New York, USA Sep 15, 2007 Rated while drinking: Pours golden with a nice fluffy white head. Smells as an IPA should, with hints of apples and lemon. Nothing too showy here. Pretty nice balance of malts and hops in the mouth. Malts drop out while hops ton continue to talk up a storm at the back of the tongue and beyond. Pretty citrusy too. This IPA is medium-bodied, with a tiny bit of carbonation and bitterness leftover from the hops. Considering the ABV though, this stuff slides down easily. Hardly any alcohol detected at all. Not too shabby for an IPA, but nothing down right exciting about it either. Could help someone start the ladder of IPAs, but not necessarily something I would care to come back to. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Sep 15, 2007 12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Pale copper color with small off-white head. Faint lemony hop aroma. Medium honey-apricot sweetness with underlying and finishing bitterness. Medium body and carbonation. Good but not exceptional or exciting. footy (334), scottsdale, Arizona, USA Sep 15, 2007 3/11/05 12oz. Pincholine restaurant, NY. Golden orange amber with large white head. mildly hoppy aroma. pleasant enough malt background with little hop taste. uninspiring but not bad. Taverner (827), San Ramon, California, USA Sep 15, 2007 Updated: Jan 10, 2008Not the best IPA by a long shot. The malt was too strong, and the hops lacking. pet3rman (206), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 13, 2007 Light orange pour. Little to no head. Carbonated. Aroma or hops and sweet citrus. Bitter and carbonated. Very Little malt covering. A hint of the sweetness you smell can be detected. Not really drinkable overall. Too carbonated. Not one of the better IPAs I have ever had. vonsolms (25), Måløv, Denmark Sep 8, 2007 Excellent example of the style - quite strong but balanced in the bitterness. Good colour. CharlesDarwin (1823), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Sep 8, 2007 12 Oz Bottle. Pours a surprisingly rich deep amber orange, with almost not head, carbonation. Totally clarity. Aroma is dirty, mingled with faint hops, rice noodles, and off-grains. Sure, it’s got characteristic hop schmalz, but nothing anybody wants. Flavor was heading towards what I expected with a body that just failed. Weak and thin, but backed with bad grain flavors. That’s not to say it was terrible, just mediocre and uninspired. There were standard caramels, noble hop sugars and candied citrus. Vegetal and lightly creamy. Any yeast characters play low and get lost in a weird spicy contingent that’s either derivative of the hopping or grain character. Not nearly as good as I was hoping for. Yeah, Garrett, Pad Thai is good. And pairing it with an IPA is better. Just make sure it’s not this one.
