The brewer is being rally shy about using enough hops to live up to the style. The original Ballantine IPA is still the one to beat, and no micro has even come close. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Aug 14, 2007 Pours a hazy amber colour with a small off white head that disapated quickly. Aroma if sweet, fruity and citrus hops. Initial taste is hoppy, mild malts, and hints of pine. Finishing astrigent. No head retention. Kevster (224), Bradenton, Florida, USA

Aroma has a mild hoppiness with hints of a sweety fruitness. Taste has a balance of citrus, malts, and hops with a tangy bitter finish. Well balanced and the hops is not overpowering. Nicely done! | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 11, 2007 May 2005 - Poured nice copper color with medium sized head which dissipated rather quickly. Smelled fruity and hoppy. The taste...I like this one. For an IPA, the hop presence was very well balanced. Had a tangy edge to it and the alcohol taste was present, but in this case, was nice. Not being a big IPA guy, this is my kind of IPA. HopsOrDie (687), New Lenox, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 10, 2007 Pours clear orange with no head and little carbonation. Lots of malt in the smell. Definitely an English IPA, very balanced flavor with earthy English hops. Enough hops to satisfy but not blow you away. rick10485 (53), oneonta, New York, USA

This brew does a great job in throwing the hoppy punch in your face. Not too heavy on the English malt and nice balance of pine and lemon notes. nicely carbonated Nihon (240), Vernon, Connecticut, USA
