EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA Jan 23, 2007 Bottle. Hoppy nose, grapefruit and citrus, but on the whole, more floral. Pale orange body with a large creamy beige head. Bready bittersweet taste, but (this bottle, at least) could use a lot more bitterness. Thin but nice and malty. Lightly dryish, floral finish. TipsyMcStager (900), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jan 23, 2007 slight hop aroma and some malt. Pours a golden brown, thin head. Too heavy on the malt, slants towards the sweet, and is underhopped. Poor balance, resulting in an unsatisfying finish. sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jan 21, 2007 On tap at Mad Mex: Hazy copper color with a white head. Aroma of citrus, and some peaty notes. Flavor, grassy citrusy hops, some pale malts. Decent brew. mnurda (434), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Jan 19, 2007 Nice amber. Nicely carbonated. Bit maltier than most. Nice to try an IPA from the author of the Brewmaster’s table. piscator34 (1121), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Jan 19, 2007 Light amber in colour with medium carbonation. Balanced aromas of smooth English malts, stone fruit, and some grassy hops. Flavors are weighted to the maltier side of things, along with some more subtle licorice and berry fruit notes. A touch of resin on the finish and some firm (but not overwhelming) bitterness. Medium bitterness. The fruit flavors are probably more in line with the British take on the style, and while I usually prefer the unrelenting hop attack of PNW IPAs, this is a nice change of pace. Thanks to presario for the sample. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA Jan 17, 2007 Light floral hop aroma and a medicinal smell. Light copper with medium head. The palate is medium and supports tastes of nice caramel malt and a light floral hop flavor. Even bitterness with very little aftertaste--but not very hoppy at all for an IPA. Amber colour with a decent white head. Very rich flowery aroma, with elder flower being one of the characteristics. Plesant bitter hobby flavor with some sweetness. Very enjoyable beer. matthewpet (28), USA Jan 14, 2007 From the bottle... copper penny color with a quickly disappearing head. Mild hop aroma, full mouth feel. A bit too much malt character for my taste, but a good example of the style.
