Crit (2398), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada Oct 22, 2006 Amber, lasting beige head. Light piney citrus hop nose. Decent malt, citrusy hops but a bit on the light side mkobes (2103), paramus, New Jersey, USA Oct 17, 2006 Deep clear copper in color with a nice off white head. Citrusy piney earthy hoppy aroma. Caramel notes. Sweet malty fruity flavor. Citrusy notes. Finish is bitter. Medium bodied. Clean tasting. Nice beer. lethe (168), Stony Brook by way of Cincinnati, New York, USA Oct 12, 2006 Transparent copper pour has piney, citrusey nose that is lively and effervescent. Palate is sticky to heavy and displays a depth to the brew. Flavor is more of the traditional IPA flavors with a definite resinous character. Nice respresentation of the style if uninspired. TheBeerOrg (1563), Kentucky, USA Oct 11, 2006 Updated: Oct 26, 2006Pours golden orange with a mostly receding off-whtie head. Aroma of grapefruit, citrus, and pine. Taste is fruity, spicy hops, notes of grapefruit.. Mouthfeel is medium/heavy bodied with lush carbonation. Pretty good. snowden719 (130), USA Oct 2, 2006 Pours dark orange with a medium to thin white head. Aroma is citrus, bit of malt, bit of pine. Citrus aroma is decently complex. Taste is a bit fruity, nice hops balance inthe finish. Malt is a underdone in the front, but it has a nice bitterness to it. Bit of a boring IPA, could use more malt flavor, maybe a bit bigger hop taste. Haack (101), Hornslet, Denmark Sep 22, 2006 Bottle: Pours a medium amber with a thin white head. Aroma is mostly bitter with hints of citrus and piney aromatic hops. Some hints of wheat-like aromas: banana, etc. Flavor is bitter with a hint of malts. cewldre (268), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Sep 11, 2006 Bottle: Pours golden in color. Little or no head lasted. Smells piny with maybe a hint of some citrus. Taste is similar, a little watery. Light note of some pine flavor. Not overly hoppy. This one is decent, but nothing to write home about. shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Sep 8, 2006 Updated: Jul 29, 2009 Sampled from bottle at River’s Bend on 9/01/2006 -- Thanks Matt! I really enjoy all of Brooklyn’s brews which is why they are one of my favorites. Their brews are always aromatic, tasty, and true to the style. I feel that they are above average and worth trying at least once. For me, Brooklyn beer is what I usually go after when I need a good, somewhat unique, and relatively affordable 6-pack. Other than that, I will have to add more specific comments once I have a chance to really taste this beer again, although I really enjoy this IPA!
. . . . . . . . . .
July 2008: Brooklyn IPA has a musty floral aroma that turns more bright and citrusy when warmer. The flavor has a good amount of pine hoppiness balanced with an unobtrusive maltiness. This beer is golden-colored with a large, foamy, off-wite head that leaves thick lacing marks on the glass. It’s pretty good overall.
Draught sample at The Brew Keeper brewpub in North Ridgeville, Ohio.
