COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn East India Pale Ale, originally a summer seasonal, has been getting raves since becoming a year round offering in 1996. Garrett Oliver, a student of English brewing and beer history, uses English malts and hops to brew his EIPA in the classic, heavily-hopped style of the 19th century beers created for British soldiers serving in India.

Aroma of grassy hops, grapefruit, and caramelized sugar. The taste is one-dimensionally bitter. Not much complexity or fruitiness to the hop profile. Serviceable mouthfeel.

0.33 bottle. Delicately hazy, light amber color and a small, white head. Hoppy aroma of exotic fruits. Taste is bitter, hoppy, fruity. Medium body, oily texture, and average carbonation. Finish is medium long and quite bitter, though not half as bitter as a an IPA could be expected to be. All in all a standard IPA, nothing to get excited about.

Bottle. Pours a clear pale amber colour with a thin white head. Aroma of orange marmalade, pine, resin, grapefruit and a little caramel. Taste of bitter, tangy, orange, resin, caramel and fruity malts. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A sticky, orange bitterness in the finish. A decent bitter beer balanced with caramel malts. Not as good as most American IPAs though.
