Commercial Description:
Brooklyn East India Pale Ale, originally a summer seasonal, has been getting raves since becoming a year round offering in 1996. Garrett Oliver, a student of English brewing and beer history, uses English malts and hops to brew his EIPA in the classic, heavily-hopped style of the 19th century beers created for British soldiers serving in India.

Execellent IPA brewed with imported British malts, and American hops. Lots of big hop aromas, crisp malt flavors, and vibrant hop bitterness. East India Pale Ale pours to a beautiful, bright, deep golden color, with a thick and creamy white head, and a lively carbonation. The nose on this beer is excellent with lots of good citrus hop aromas. The palate is firm with good pale malt flavors, and a nice under tone of candy lemon peel. This beer finishes with more good pale malt flavors and fruit up front, then ends with a zesty, tangy, citrus hop bite that lingers. Well done IPA, a good aperitif beer, and a nice beer to match with fish and chips.

Nothing too special here. Copper color with malty/ light hoppy smell. Small head that leaves fast. Flavor is malty with light hops coming in at the end. Just O.K.

Draft -- Hops, a flowery yeast and "green" aromas. Pale orange with a diminuitive head. Lots of hops on the tongue, spicy and complex. An IPA with some depth, but without the big alcohol. Palate is a little thin.

355 ml bottle. Finland.
Hazy amber colour with small white head. Dark hoppy aroma with alcohol. Dark harsh hoppy flavour. Not as fresh as Brooklyn Lager.

12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Pale copper color with small off-white head. Faint lemony hop aroma. Medium honey-apricot sweetness with underlying and finishing bitterness. Medium body and carbonation. Good but not exceptional or exciting.

pours pale copper, thin film for a head. citrus aroma with light malt. Some funky water and metallic notes are in there as well, unfortunately. Flavor is english malt and kent golding hops. light, fruity appearance, weak lacing. slightly fizzy mouthfeel. very bitter finish. body is thin and bitter.

Hate do disagree with everyone,... but. This is one of the hoppiest IPA's out there. More so than hopdevil, SN, or 3F's dreadnaught. If your a hophead you'll love this. An abundance of floral hops flows into awe inspiring bitterness. A great strong American IPA. re-rate (4/12/04): Don't know what I was on but it must have been good. Needs some cascades/cetennial. Plenty bitter but wasy too one-dimensional.

12 oz bottle from premier gourmet. pour orange with a nice white ehad. good lacings. aromas are of tired grassy hops and questionable malt choices. kinda awkward aromas of hot glue on paper made of hops. flavours are slightly better. very grassy and bitter but in an unpleasant way. not a very enjoyable IPA. to bad, i was expecting more from the brew.
