Brooklyn East India Pale Ale, originally a summer seasonal, has been getting raves since becoming a year round offering in 1996. Garrett Oliver, a student of English brewing and beer history, uses English malts and hops to brew his EIPA in the classic, heavily-hopped style of the 19th century beers created for British soldiers serving in India.

From a can, light amber, white head, minimal lacing, floral and hop aroma, sticky, sweet, smooth finish, very nice IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2016 Bière orange avec une belle mousse blanche. Au nez on sent le houblon, en bouche aussi. Pas très florale...

Bottle in the Capital Grille, NYC. Colour unknown, I’d guess on the deeper side of amber. A balanced IPA, quite malty with a decent hop level of bitterness. Certainly didn’t feel 6.9%. Well made but there’s a certain house taste of these Brooklyn beers which makes them all feel a bit the same and it isn’t my favourite. This beer would probably be better out of a cask.

330ml can: Pours a clear amber with good off white head. Tastes of pine resin and slight citrus. Overall a nice IPA.

Versa di arancione scuro quasi ramato con schiuma bianca quasi inconsistente. Aroma fruttato con note marcate di luppolo. Idem in bocca dove risulta molto fresca. Finale lungo e piacevolmente amaro. Insomma una IPA più che discreta e soprattutto molto beverina...va giù che è un piacere.

Diminishing head, but lasting throughout the glass. Less pronounced flavor, malty and fruity. Bitterness becoming thinner, going to sweet, lasting finish. Very light, although alcohol can be felt.

I was surprised by this supermarket beer! I’m no expert but I’ve tried much worse beers

I do not wax on poetically about beer but I do know the quality of a beer once tasted. This review is not about my tastes but reinforces the numbers, which are arbitrary.

Clear amber with small off white head that quickly recedes to a film. Biscuity malt aroma, with some marmalade notes. The taste has a toasty malt character, grassy and grapefruit citrus hop tang, a little marmalade. Light to medium bodied, reasonably low carbonation and a little acidic bite without any sourness. Solid if unspectacular IPA.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle, best by July 2016, poured into a snifter. Clear light orange with small white head. Aroma is citrus hops, medium body, lower carbonation, and some lacing. Taste is citrus hops with nice malt backbone. Solid beer.
