Brooklyn East India Pale Ale, originally a summer seasonal, has been getting raves since becoming a year round offering in 1996. Garrett Oliver, a student of English brewing and beer history, uses English malts and hops to brew his EIPA in the classic, heavily-hopped style of the 19th century beers created for British soldiers serving in India.

Bottle. Very bland. Had it after a few struise beers so maybe i am being a little harsh. But it really tastes like water with a hint of malt and some hops.

Aroma of malt, caramel, sweet fruits, floral notes, hops. Flavour is malty caramel, light to moderate sweet, with a moderate to medium bitter finish. Good IPA on the maltier side.

Transfer from BA review on 10-7-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a clear orange-amber color with a one finger of pure white fizzy head. The head has a decent level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a moderate level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is rather light overall. It is heaviest of an earthy smell mixed with a bit of a biscuit aroma. Along with these smells are hint of a grapefruit aroma and a small amount of a tangerine sweetness. Taste – The taste begins with a biscuit and cracker flavor mixed with a moderately strong earthy hop taste. Upfront there is a little bit of an orange fruit flavor which fades as the taste advances. Grapefruit flavors of the brew grow stronger as the taste advances, seemingly at the expense of the sweet orange, with more earthy and some herbal tastes also joining the taste profile. In the end, with the sweet dwindling and the onset of more hop, a semi-dry and bitter hopped flavor is left to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average side in terms of thickness with the carbonation being rather average as well. The moderate nature of both the thickness and carbonation are rather nice for complimenting both the bitter and semi-dry malt flavors of the brew with a nice drinkability. Overall – An nice IPA overall. A good, mainly bitter earthy bite that is a bit on the drier side overall.

Mooie oranjegele kleur met een goede kraag. Ruikt fruitig, hop, orange. Goede bittere geur. Smaakt bitterzoet, honing, orange, hop. Bittere en iets zoetig in de afdronk.

Hazy copper pour with tan head. Biscuit aroma, slightly dank yeast and hops. Traditional pale malt flavor with mild bitter and grassy hop finish. Nice 90's style IPA.

Pours a clear amber color, topped with a small light beige head. Biscuity aroma complemented by citrusy fruits. The taste starts pleasantly sweet and biscuity followed by gentle hoppy bitterness in the finish. Very drinkable and subtle IPA.

Bottle thanks to MisoW. Aroma is nicely, empathically hoppy. Citrusy, resiny. Background caramel. Clear golden colour. Taste is intensely hoppy up front, both in bitterness and flavour. Citrusy, orange, resiny. Juicy, tasty. Easily dirnkable, refreshing. Really good, despite the hops giving me more American impression, but that might as well be my fault.
