Brooklyn East India Pale Ale, originally a summer seasonal, has been getting raves since becoming a year round offering in 1996. Garrett Oliver, a student of English brewing and beer history, uses English malts and hops to brew his EIPA in the classic, heavily-hopped style of the 19th century beers created for British soldiers serving in India.

Pours a very clean copper color with a modest white filmy head that has a good amount of staying power. Aroma has a very earthy hops punch with a light lemon citrus at the finish and some mild roasted malt presence at the tail end. Flavor has an early toasted malt presence which is quickly overtaken by a smooth earthy hops presence with notes of lemon and a noble hops bite at the finish. Body is modest with lots of fine carbonation and slight dryness imparted from the hop/toasted malt combination. Overall an enjoyable brew with a pretty pronounce, unique flavor. Nice to have one of these to mix up the typical American hopped pale ales out there on the market.

Bought at the local supermarket, AH. Clear amber beer with a small white cup, low carbonation. Taste is very fruity, tasty little bitter, grapefruit, citrus.

Très douce, bel équilibre entre amertume et corps légèrement sucré. On reste sur des agrumes agréables pour une IPA très légère.

Bottle. Pours hazy amber with almost no head, what’s wrong here? Very low carbonized and some tastes that I’ve had with IPAs that were too old. Best before 04/16 though which is odd for an IPA.

Très peu de mousse, une couleur jaune orangé, un arôme houblonné, au goût une forte présence d’amertume qui dure. 33 Cl Galeries Lafayette.

Not a very strong smell. Poor head retention and light color. Nice balanced taste that has lasting flavor on middle of tongue. Nice pale, not strong like ipa should.

Medium foam. Good aroma of hops and flower. Full-bodied flavor where the hops provide space for a discreet floral taste. Palate is citrus with prolonged hoppy biterness. Fine and tasty IPA.
