Brooklyn East India Pale Ale, originally a summer seasonal, has been getting raves since becoming a year round offering in 1996. Garrett Oliver, a student of English brewing and beer history, uses English malts and hops to brew his EIPA in the classic, heavily-hopped style of the 19th century beers created for British soldiers serving in India.

Pours a very clean copper color with a modest white filmy head that has a good amount of staying power. Aroma has a very earthy hops punch with a light lemon citrus at the finish and some mild roasted malt presence at the tail end. Flavor has an early toasted malt presence which is quickly overtaken by a smooth earthy hops presence with notes of lemon and a noble hops bite at the finish. Body is modest with lots of fine carbonation and slight dryness imparted from the hop/toasted malt combination. Overall an enjoyable brew with a pretty pronounce, unique flavor. Nice to have one of these to mix up the typical American hopped pale ales out there on the market.

Drought pint at The Tipping Point Brewery Company on 12-Nov-2015. Pale amber colour with a thick white head. Medium to softly carbonated. Aroma of citrus, pine and malt. Floral taste, citrus, sweet malt and hops. A nice refreshing fruity pale ale.

330mk bottle at RedHot Munich. Aroma is light pineapple, light peaches. Pale yellow to golden with a strong texturized foam. Taste is medium bitter and light sweet. Almost no carbonation, a bit watery and thin. Good though.

Pours a dark amber from a bottle. Aroma of golden syrup. Flavor is vegetally sweet, like root beer or European sodas made with real plant bits, hints of lemon. Doesn’t look, smell, or taste like an IPA to me. Blech.

Good hoppy smell...not too much... A little bit of spice but could be from last beer, a little maltiness in there too, taste is a very mild IPA... Pretty good...little bit of sweetness with the mild bitterness, nothing very special here though...straightforward
