An okay IPA. Orange in color, lightly hazy, with a decent head. Aroma of caramel and pine. Not too much bitterness for an IPA. Tried at Amir’s in NYC in 2013.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 bartlebier (523) - Baden-Württemberg, GERMANY - JUN 3, 2013
12oz bottle, BB 30/09/2013, at Maruhn, as part of the "Braufactum Kollektion", i.e. part of the rapidly expanding Oetker-portfolio and coming with a range of auratic import labels, securing them exclusivity on the German niche market of imported crafts. Sells for about €2,90 here. (Sampled on 1st occasion in NYC deli 09/2012 for $1.50) Decidedly mild IPA, verging towards UK IPA with a lovely bouquet of subtle UK hops, but at 6,9ABV a rather surprising watery palate, washing those subtle aromas down too fast to create great lingering flavour. Could be a bit maltier and/or creamier and as such presents too pricey+underwhelming an entry-level US IPA for the DE import market.
