Brooklyn East India Pale Ale, originally a summer seasonal, has been getting raves since becoming a year round offering in 1996. Garrett Oliver, a student of English brewing and beer history, uses English malts and hops to brew his EIPA in the classic, heavily-hopped style of the 19th century beers created for British soldiers serving in India.

33 cl bottle fra Vinmonopolet Bekkestua @ home. Pours hazy orange with a small off white head. Hoppy aroma of citrus. A bit pale in taste and aftertaste for this time of year (-16 degrees) but i think this will be a great "lawnmower" beer.

Somehow I expected more. Good, but average. Somewhat hoppy, but nothing memorable....

Very enjoyable. Different taste and look probably due to the English malts. Good not great.

Aroma is like apple cider...light hops, pretty malty. Appearance is amber/orange, off-white head. Taste is actually pretty sour, that apple flavor comes through again, then hop bitterness fades into light malt. Mouthfeel is pretty carbonated, the flavor disappears pretty quickly. Overall, for some reason I was expecting more out of this one. Pretty disappointing.

Litt uklar oransje farge med et hvitt skum. Aroma er noe maltete, med hint av sitrus, karamell og furunål. Smaken følger aroma, kort avsluttning.

On tap @ Beer Temple. Clear golden yellow color. Big foamy white heat with good lacing. Aroma’s: hops, very refreshing, light resin, some fruit. Soft hoppiness. Flavor is mild, light bitter with hints of malty sweetness, a bit dark malts. Medium bodied. Finishes rather dry, moderate to full bitter. I prefer US/Westcoast IPA’s but this is well crafted.

Bottle. Light amber color. Medium head. Aroma is grapefruit, just the typical IPA taste and smell.

Deep golden with white head. Big malt caramel aroma, very nice with some floral hop aroma. Dry with light bitterness and intense malty flavour.

Bottle. Not a typical IPA, rather hints of chocolate/toffee in the aroma than citrus &c. Average carbonation, small finish.

Z czasem niestety wzrasta przygaszona początkowo nuta alkoholowa. Smak: słodowy, dość pełny, ale raczej wytrawny. Następnie chmielowa kontra z cytrusami i śliwkami na czele. Wyczuwalna goryczka w okolicach średniej. Przyjemna, nie zalegająca. Nieco alkoholowy finisz.

02-JUL-2014, bottle @CPH Airport. Clear golden with a lively, quickly dying, off-white head. Classic IPA with citrus - grape fruit - and pine. Sweet, bitter. Medium body, lively carbonation. Have had this so many times and the first time I guess is around 10 years ago. But for some reason I never got around to rating it. Rating 10 years ago would have been a lot higher but now I am just better used to American IPA’s. Still a Classic:-)
