BeerFanDan17 (610), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Mar 2, 2008 Excellent Brune! Flavors were very spicy and fruity and enveloped the palate with cinammon, cloves, and caramel. Definitely worth trying. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA Mar 15, 2008 On Tap at the Ravenous Pig in Winter Park. Poured into a trappist glass. Dark burnished mahogany color. Really strong banana smell with hints of chocolate fruits. Smells amazing. The taste is remarkable, it seems stronger than it is, I had guessed 9 or 9.5% but the flavor aside from that is terrific. Carbonation is just right, the flavors are clearly defined and it went very well with my meal. The chocolate notes were hidden but I noticed as it warmed they became more defined but the banana flavor dominated. One of my favorite beers. I’m suprised my score was so different than others, but this is pretty hard to find from what I hear. I was glad to have gotten a chance to try it. TheBeerOrg (1563), Kentucky, USA Mar 9, 2008 On tap at Rich O’s - Pours light amber with a thin foamy tan head. Aroma of bubble gum, cotton candy, caramel, toffee. Taste is estery, caramel, spice, apples, and toffee. Medium to full bodied with lush carbonation. I really liked the mix of the caramel and fruity esters. bbp182 (255), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 5, 2008 Brooklyn Extra Brune sampled at The Grey Lodge Bar. It has an amber color to it with an ok off white head and lacing. You can smell the alcohol and also fruity/malty sweetness. The taste is amazing. You can really taste the alcohol! Its smooth for an over 8 percent. Fruity, sweet, and malty with a perfect hop bite. corby112 (679), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 9, 2008 Pours a dark chestnut brown with thin off white head. Pleasant aroma of dark fruit, chocolate maltiness and candi sugar. Very smooth quaffable beer with lots of dark fruit (prune, raisin, plum, etc.) balancing out the chocolate malts, caramel and candi sugar. Very good! Chapel (329), Levittown, New York, USA Feb 20, 2008 Pours a hazy caramel which looked down right divine back lit by candle at the Blind Tiger. The flavor is bold and sweet without being imposing. Additionally, there is a flavor that I used to think was exclusive to beers actually from Belgium. Granted, they did use some Beligan products, but never have I tasted this blend of spice, pine and caramel before. Excellent brew from Brooklyn Brewery. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Aug 25, 2008 On tap at Boxer’s in Huntingdon (SP?), PA. Strong aroma of banana and cloves. Flavor is smokey with some malts on the end. Mysterious beer that wants to be great, but can only manage very good. FROTHINGSLOSH (1965), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 6, 2008 Sampled on draft at Zeno’s in State College PA this beer poured a chestnut brown color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma was lightly sugary and had a hint of roasty malts and ripe fruits. The flavor was bitter, sweet and sugary with notes of chocolate, tasty malts, and hints of ripe fruits - mostly cherry and pear. The finish was long sweet chocolate. Nice.
