thenick (611), North Bellmore, New York, USA Apr 25, 2008 Tap @ House of Brews. Pours a hazy brownish-amber with a lacy off-white head. Aroma is a unique and wonderfully-enticing array of malt, banana, dark fruit, and some caramel/clove aspects as well. The taste is caramel malt up front and then, from my perspective, goes absolutely nowhere. Brooklyn’s Belgian efforts have frustrated me endlessly because they are clearly well put-together but would be vastly better if they had a little complexity. Overall, a disappointment, and that’s a shame, because with a little refinement it could be extraordinary.
nqualls (575), Tennessee, USA Aug 25, 2008 On tap at Boxer’s in Huntingdon (SP?), PA. Strong aroma of banana and cloves. Flavor is smokey with some malts on the end. Mysterious beer that wants to be great, but can only manage very good. joebudzjoe (121), Connecticut, USA Jul 12, 2008 On tap @ Monster B’s in Stamford. Strong aromas of banana and initial flavors of a complex hefe. However, as the pint continues, mild butterscotch undertones prevail. bu11zeye (3887), Frisco, Texas, USA Jul 2, 2008 (Draught) Pours a cloudy amber body with a medium creamy almond head. Aroma of clove, banana, earthiness, toasted malt, and faint plastic. Flavor of rye, light smoke, dark fruit, candi sugar, and caramel malt. Rciesla (1136), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Jun 2, 2008 Draft. Pours a dark brown body with a tan head. Aroma is dark fruit, plum and some roasted malt, a good presence of belgian yeast and candi sugar. These traits last well into the finish, which dries and leaves behind a mild etoh warming. maniac (2023), Richmond, Virginia, USA May 18, 2008 Served from tap at the Brooklyn Beer Dinner at Capital Ale House - Downtown. Very clear ruby amber body with no head and nice lacing. Sweet candi sugar, caramel, molassas, and light floral hops and light rum soaked fruit aroma.
