Combining Canadian and American malts with a large proportion of un-malted white winter wheat, Fiat Lux starts with a Belgian witbier inspiration. A blend of Pacific Northwest hops, a little lime peel and a dash of Indian coriander brings a bright blast of citrusy aromatic sunshine, while German Perle hops supply a nice big zap of refreshing bitterness.

On draft at GABF 2012. Pours a light yellow with a white head. Nose is big sweet wheat, some light citrus (lemon/ lime), and lots of sweetness. Flavor is big sweetness with some citrus and yeast with mild bitterness. Light in body and a weirdly off-kilter ubersweet wit.

A golden ale with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, a nice biscuit malt with spices, incense, cardamom, very nice. In mouth, a smooth sweet lactic malt with light cherry notes, nice and smooth. On tap at Ginger Man NYC, Sept 21, 2012.

Sampled at GABF 2012. One of my top three beers from my two sessions. Spicy with loads of citrus and a tang of hop bitterness. Simple and light and effervescent and just flat out tasty.

On tap at Hay Merchant. Pours a clear copper gold with a thick creamy white head leaving good sticky lacig along the glass. The aroma is a strong yeast and pepper. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet honey and yeast with nice lingering dry finish. A good Belgian from Brooklyn.

Sampled on 10/12/2012 at GABF. This witbier pours a light gold color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity, spicy, lime and sweet. A medium bodied Witbier. The malts are fruity and sweet, with some lime and coriander. The hops are citrusy and grapefruity. Decent carbonation. An interesting mix and match of flavors. Sweet, yet tart, hoppy yet malty. Crisp and clean. Fairly smooth. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean, crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Draft at Tap42. Pours golden with an inch of white foam that leaves lots of lacing. Big orange on the nose. Didn’t expect the pine hop flavor on the tongue and yet it finished clean. An extremely compelling beer, another winner from Brooklyn and why, according to Jay Z, you really shouldn’t fuck with them.

hombrepalo (1800) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 7, 2012

Poured a semi clear pale yellow with no head. Very faint nose but in the mouth it tastes like maybe nothing I’ve had before. Like a spicy, rye infused wit.

10/3/12. On tap at Kickback’s. Lightly hazed orange pour with a small off-white head. The aroma shows definite orange with some bitterness and spices. The flavor shows more spices, soft wheat, cream, and more citrus. Not bad.
