COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“Hammarby Syndrome is the distress or impairment caused by the frenzied anticipation and giddy obsession over the beautiful Hammarby Sjöstad section of Stockholm, Sweden and the New Carnegie Brewery that Brooklyn Brewery will open there in March." Now there’s good news - we can help you! Our new Brewmaster’s Reserve beer is Hammarby Syndrome, a robust ale that will transport you directly to the seaside of old Stockholm. It’s brewed from a large proportion of spelt, an ancient wheat-like grain that was once a mainstay of Scandinavian beers. To the spelt’s distinctively nutty flavor, we’ve added another old Swedish beer ingredient - spruce fronds. They add a tasty citrusy pine note to a full-bodied, lightly fruity strong ale that’ll keep you warm until the spring sunshine comes to the rescue. More importantly, it’s great with hearty cold-weather food, and it’ll make you feel like you’re in Hammarby until you can come visit us there yourself.

Draught at against the grain. Murky, dark amber, touching on brown, decent foamy white head. Bright saison nose, lemon notes. Flavour is unusual, dark fruits, raisins, plums, with a dry, spicy note. Big body, medium carbonation. Long complex finish. Cracking beer.

Keg at Camden Town, RBESG day 3, 09/08/14. Dark amber with a well appointed light tan covering. Nose is malt forward, candied fruit peel, toffee, mineral notes. Taste comprises toffee apple, candied sugars, sweet licks, caramel malt. Medium + body, fine carbonation, hop bitterness and sweet toffee vibes in the close. Decent enough offering.

RBESG pt 17. Camden. Keg. Clear deep amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is light and crispy. Airy caramel malts. Light sweet floralness. Finishes airy and semi dry. A curious offering, hides the abv very well but it’s one dimensional.

Thanks to Dave. Hmm - a Swedish ale? Is this a new (or revived) style ? This contains some spelt and spruce. The aroma is sweet and malty. It tastes sweet and a little funky. There is a fair amount of fig flavor and perhaps some Belgian yeast. Good
