Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Pint. Appearance: Clear, light copper with thin but sustained head. Light lacing. Aroma: Fairly dry, with toast, caramel, cherry and floral and citrusy hops. Taste: Nice malt backbone of toast and caramel with almost no sweetness. Hops are quite apparent and include nice floral notes from the noble hops as well as an unusual blast of citrus due to the cascade hops. Great use of dry-hopping for a typically simple lager. Palate: Moderately high carbonation with a fairly light body. This is a very crisp, clean and dry beer; quite simply, perfect for this type of beer. Overall: Other than a couple Pilsners out there, this is about as good as an everyday lower alcohol lager can get. This should be bigger than Sam Adams Boston Lager. But New York is always better than Boston, right? Just kidding, I am from Minnesota and really couldn’t care less about the rivalry.

Not in love with this one... Almost a flowery, skunky, malt on the aroma. Taste is just OK.

Pours an amber colour with a lightly lacing head. Beautiful aroma - a flowery hop profile somewhere between Czech saaz and classic English ale hops, and a rich biscuity malt profile reminiscent of a darker German lager. Assertively crisp and bitter, with a light noble-hop spiciness. Creamy and smooth, and eminently drinkable. The best amber lager I can remember trying.

A really surprising beer for a lager. The pour is a bright golden amber with a bubbly white head about two fingers thick. The aroma is bright and floral with pronounced graininess and sweet malts. Mostly sweet and light in the middle with a surprising hopped up finish. A good amount of sticky lacing and somewhat slick mouthfeel. Nuances of light citrus and caramel with a beautiful crisp, floral taste. Overall, a good beer for sure.

Bottle bought at Sainsbury’s in Pinner. An amber/golden coloured pour with a decent white head on top. Malty aroma. Tastes very malty, hoppy, fruity. Is this really a lager? Quite surprised with this one.

Sampled this puppy on my wedding day. Bottle purchased at the LCBO. Pours a dark orange/ brown, with a decent head and some minor lacing. Aroma is sweet and malty, tiny bit of hop as well. Taste is malty and sweet, some nice fruit as well. Really good stuff.

2/5 i mörkhet. Luktar maltigt, lite citrus.
