COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

Draught --- poured a medium tangerine color, much like slightly tarnished brass. Great head that stuck all the way down the glass as I drank it. Thick. Great mouth feel with lots of presence. Refreshing and clean. Not much lingering taste here. Flavors of grapefruit, lemon peel, and citrus. Some mild bitterness and only the faintest hints of malt. A good beer that you could keep drinking all night. Not overly fantastic, but if itís on tap itís worth getting.

clean, crisp, absolutely full bodied, hopped to hell lager without having even a remote taste of lager yeast or any of that other botton fermentation nonsense that takes over the flavor profile of almost every other lager out there. Its freaking beautiful to have a full bodied lager that doesnt taste like a lager but doesnt make you as full feeling as drinking an ale...superb!

This was a pleasent surprise Darker than I expexted, and more full bodied, as well. Nice toasty, spicy aroma, and a dry, toasty flavor. Perhaps a touch of nuttiness, too. Tasty.

Very ale like - a a good ale at that. Hoppy, dark, citrus touch and a really good bitter finish. Glad that this is available here in Toronto - itís a really good lager (or ale).

How this qualifies as a lager I donít know. Looks more like an amber, hoppier than some IPAs and more bitter than your average ale. Still a nice beer with good overall balance and a nice finish, just donít call it a lager.

Dark ruby red body with large two finger head that dont last long. Aroma is of flolary hops, i thought the aroma were little weak. The flavor is mostly of flolary hops to, som maltiness are noticeble. The palate thin with fizzy carbonation. This beer is wery hoppy and not very balanced betveen malt and hops, but it has a nice flavor still. Dont drink it if you dont like very hoppy beer.s

Definitely malty, but I think what goes awry here is that the hops destroy a lot of the qualities one might look for in a vienna. Iím not too familiar with the style. I have had the Eliott Ness and it isnít this. Otherwise the appearance and the aroma are excellent. The taste is overhopped for a lager -- uh -- a vienna.

UPDATED: AUG 19, 2007 Pours an amber-orange colour with a lot of thick, rich head, that lasts and leaves some major lacing on the glass. Aroma is of hops, thatís pretty much it. Taste is immediately hops, at first I was wondering if Iíd been tricked into drinking an IPA or APA or a bitter, but then the malts eventually kick in during the finish and after taste to add some balace. Enjoyable, but I wish the malts werenít so subdued by the hops.

Floral hops and breadlike maltiness dominate the aroma. Appearance is an appealing reddiish brown. Flavor has some sweetness, and a little more hoppiness than I expected. The finish tends to klinger, with some bittering hoppiness. Light to medium mouthfeel. Good beer overall.
