Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

Bottle. Sweet corn and peach aroma. Orange amber with moderate head. Slight sweet peach and malt flavor. A bit on the sweet side but overall okay.

Bottle. Bought by accident, surprisingly pleasant. hoppy citrust aroma, hoppy flavor. very interesting for a lager. Then again itís not your usual cheap lager w/ adjuncts. good for it. there is stll some unpleasant bottom fermenting "tin" flavor to it, but good for something billed as lager... itís even coppery with a nice head and some lacing

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2006 Bottle. Pours golden with a thick off-white head that lingers awhile. A nice hoppy floral/citrus scent. Similar flavor, with more hops than most lagers, hints of yeast and maybe a very vague maltiness, and a dry, rather bitter finish of grapefruit hops. Medium to light body, but slightly too carbonated. Overall not a bad lager.

I wasnít real enamored with this selection; however, lagers are probably my least favorite style, so that may be why. A clear golden pour with an off-white head. A hint of a floral in the nose and some wood on the palate. Also a dry character and a hair too much carbonation. It may be a better selection for the summer.

Bottle. Pours dark, hazy orange with off-white head. Flowery hoppy lager aroma. Flavors are mostly flowery/grass/straw, with malts sort of taking a backseat. Hints of yeast and hops. Satisfying lager, but too low on the malts.

bottle. Poured a light amber with a medium head. Hoppy aroma with citrus and pine notes. Flavor was a bit of caramel and hops.. Medium mouthfeel with good carbonation.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a rich amber, which is darker than most lagers, with a decent white head. Light fruity nose. Nice strong hop presence in the taste, which was surprising for a lager. Very enjoyable and easy to drink!

Poured a light amber with a decent white head that dissipated quickly. Iíve liked Brooklyn beers so was excited to try this one. Some malt in the nose, but I sense more hops than anything else. Not bad, but unexpected. Nothing about the flavor stands out, basically a middle-ish malt-hop flavor with some extra bitterness in the dry end. Not bad, but this is my least favorite Brooklyn beer.

Bottle-Pours a nice amber/orange color with moderate head. Hoppier than I expected for a lager, guess thatís the "Pre-Prohibition" recipe. I didnít really taste any malt flavor to balance it out, just a long hoppy, dry, metalic aftertaste. Donít understand all the buzz about this beer, just seems average to me. Didnít find it very refreshing.

Aroma is full for a lager, closer to some brown ales Iíve had. Kinda nutty, malty. The taste is where you can tell itís a lager. Malty, slightly dry, but not corny like cheaper lagers, surprising dry hop bitterness at the end. Overall very pleasant. Goes well with pizza, too.
