COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

12oz bottle. Pours a nice clear amber with a light lacing. Smells quite fresh but very mild, light aroma of hops and malt but sweet (some caramel). Get a taste of corn syrup initially but then a balanced hoppy lager, although finish leaves an off taste on the palate. Decent for the style but just not a fan.

12oz bottle into a pils glass. Unexpectedly dark pour; sort of a light amber colour with minimal almost white head. Nutty and lemony on the nose with a slightly roasted malt note. A little sweet on the entry, but a good crisp body with a long lightly bitter finish that holds on to that lemony zest.

Colour is golden orange more akin to a pae ale than a lager. Maly noise with notes of earthy hops. Flavour is malty and finishs dry. Leaves you wanting to take another slurp. A really good sessionable lager.

12oz bottle. Light amber appearance, hazy, minimal white head. Nice, nutty aroma. Crisp texture. Bready aroma, good aftertaste. Good aroma for a lager, but if this is a good lager, then I guess I’m not really a fan of the style. (now that I’m logging the rating, I guess it’s actually a vienna). Decent beer, but meh overall.

UPDATED: MAY 12, 2011 Decent lager but I was hoping for more. Beautiful dark gold appearance with a small head that leaves quickly. Hops balence the malt but I was expecting a bit more malt backbone to this vienna lager. Glad I tried it, probably wont buy again (and I like viennas), and rather disapointing. Brooklyn Brewery just entered our market so the beer is fresh (reasonably so) but it might be a victim of traveling halfway across the country.

Clear amber pour with a good amount of carbonation and a lasting tan head. A very hoppy lager. Caramel toasted malt with notes of bread and honey. Lightly sweet with a bitter hoppy finish. Decent lager.

Bottled. Lovely dark amber beer, rich malt body, properly balanced by dry hops. Full flavour, far better than most macro lagers.
