Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

Pours dark orange with thin to no white head. Aroma has notes of lemon, some bread, touch of grass. Taste is simple, but has nice notes of grass, lemon, bready cereal, some slight sour grain, some slight caramel as well, finishing bitter and very carbonated. Overall pretty good.

One of my favourite lager beers. Best on tap, but still very good on bottle. Pours a nice, fairly dark colour with a thick, rich head. Aroma rich with hops and some malt. Taste is very nice, with hops and malt giving it a pleasant earthy and bitter taste, but still balanced and with a fresh touch.

(bottle) Pours out a lightly hazy dark amber with a thin off-white head and moderate lacing. Aroma is lightly bready, with little kicks of spicy hops and some musty lager yeast lurking underneath. Toasted barley and some bread dough. Flavor is lightly sweet, with caramel, toasty malt, bread, and a lingering spicy and crisp mineral finish. The finish is a bit off-putting. Mouthfeel is medium with moderate carbonation. Overall, this is a decent Vienna, but nothing all that great.

bottle; clear amber to orange with a medium white head; aroma-floral, pine, sweet; taste-mild sweetness, very bitter, almost astringent. Surprisingly good.

Bottle picked up at Total Wine in Alexandria. Served in a Mikasa pilsner glass. Pour yields a brew with an amber body and a pretty big off-white head that leaves behind gobs and gobs of lacing. Head goes from a few fingers to a nice, stead half-finger. The nose has some light malt and a bit of earthiness. Nothing too complex, but it’s done well. The taste improves upon this with a nice dry malt presence and a bit of light earthy hops. Slightly bitter in the finish. Seems to be part hops and part tannins. Body is light to medium. Good carbonation as well. Drinks really quite well. A solid brew that I thoroughly enjoyed. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 02-23-2011

Light, balanced, smooth and crisp, this truly is the quintessential anytime lager. Aroma is very light alcohol fumes with a slight sweet malt presence and an essence of hop. Taste is crisp malty goodness that finishes dry with the slightest hint of grassy hops. Not a pondering bottle of complexities, making Brooklyn Lager my go to bbq/party beer. Cheers!

You can smell the hops just as you open the bottle. The malts are present also but very subte. It looks great also, with a beautiful dark golden color. The taste is comprised of hops and malts, with a good but not too strong bitterness. It’s a very good beer, very flavourfull and balanced.

0.355l bottle @ Henrik, Bergen. Pours a clear deep amber golden body with a small white head. Aroma is lager-malty, dusty hops, hints of fruits and for some bizarre reason cloudy(like in steam). Body is medium and the carbonation is medium+. Tastes much the same as it smells. Slightly boring actually but easily drinkable. Kind of organic flavored if that’s a flavor? Ends with a grassy bitter finish and a slightly lasting light watery aftertaste. Nice enough within it’s genre.
