COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

Nice carmel color and a sweet white head fill the eyes while the powerful dry hopped aroma fills your nose with joy.

Deep rich color for being a lager. Rocky offwhite head. Hoppy aroma springs out of the glass. Drinks more like an ale than a lager. Smooth maltiness with a goodly amount of hops. One of the better lagers Iíve sampled.

This bottled brew poured a medium sized head of light brown colored foamy fine to medium sized mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a transparent softly carbonated caramel brown colored body and a very good lacing. The aroma was mildly malty and the mouth feel was mild with a tingly smooth start. The flavor was mild and slightly off with sweet malty notes.

Bottle. Poured a small sized off-white head that was creamy and smooth, small, medium and large sized bubbles, sparse lacing, transparent, carbonated, and a copper hue. Malty, caramel, hoppy, and sweet nose. Flavor was malt, caramel and hops. Smooth palate. Light-medium body.

Bottle. Pours golden amber, a little darker than expected for the style. Fresh hops and sweet malt on the nose. Medium-light body, flavors of citrusy hops and buiscuity malt; dry, crisp finish. Doesnít have the smooth texture of some lagers, and I donít know if Iíd identify it blindly as a lager. Drinks more like a light American pale or amber. Iím consistently pleased with Brooklyn, and this is a tasty take on the style.

Draught. Light amber color with thin head. Not much nose, but got a whiff of hop spruce and malt. Fairly hoppy flavor with some caramel undertones. First fe sips were good, but the flavors wane quickly. Moderate carbonation. Overall, not much character and a bit pedestrian. Put in perspective, though, itís a much better lager than the macros.

Pours a med amber with a frothy white head. Aroma is of munich cookiness and floral hops. The flavor is very hop accented with some earthiness and a nice caramel bicuitiness. Med. bodied. The bitterness is med but higher than any other lager I have had. This is well balanced and an interesting American lager, so much better than Samuel Adams, I have to cringe every time I hear that they are the #1 craft brewer in the country.

UPDATED: DEC 14, 2006 Bottle. Dark amber, malty burnt caramel aroma, some hop aroma, very carbonated in mouth with toffee flavours, some hop toffee finish. Not too sweet thankfully 3.3/5 Re-rate. I love the hops on this now. Just wonderful. I donít get the toffee so much nor was it over carbonated. I must like it as I bought two bottles in quick succession from Tesco.

starts out Ok, with floral aroma and reasonable appearance with head. First sips fine, but tires quickly. Not so drinkable. Some bitterness and balance. Malts and Ok aftertaste but just damn boring

Very excellent lager from someone who typically doesnít enjoy vienna/pilsener/most lagers in general :) Excellent malts tasting of caramel, burnt sugar, and candy with a nice hop accent.
