2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Grassy and hoppy aroma. Clear copper color with a thick frothy head. Hoppy and simple with a copper finish. I knew right off it was no ordinary lager even without looking.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Rated 5/27/07: Top shelf here, I was expecting yellow, crisp, and average but this is not your typical lager. Light amber pour that sparkles in the glass, tall lasting head, and remarkable lacing. Malty aroma, a little sweet with some caramel and biscuits. Good floral hop scent as well. Heavy body for the style, nice filling brew. Real bitter that bites you at the end. Surprisingly complex taste, malts o’ plenty produces a nice bready, toasted, and nutty flavor. High hop bitterness flowery and rightly done. A touch of sour apples and caramel as well. Great find, really hits the spot.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAR 19, 2008 330 mL bottle. Amber, with white/beige head that recedes to a film. Laces okay, though. Aroma of hops (cascade?) and brown sugar. Taste doesn’t quite live up to the aroma, but that’s a big challenge. But it is nicely bitter, with enough malt character to make it interesting. And the hops are almost perfect. Well carbonated. Taste is full enough to make you forget this is a lager. Outstanding.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a nice copper colour with a slightly yellowish head that stays, but also has some flavour. A really nice, slightly fruity, hoppy smell. The taste is really juicey with some nice malt flavours and a real belt of hops. Great hoppy aftertaste and a really nice balance between bitter and sweet flavours. One of the best largers I’ve ever tasted!

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: SEP 28, 2007 The aroma is dominated by the hop. It’s the same with the flavor - it’s first malty, but very fast the taste of hop takes over. It’s a bit similar to their east india pale ale. The head is a bit better and more creamy than the most lagers (this was from a bottle).
All in all a great lager with taste! (To quote a fellow rateberian). I still wish they wouldn’t filter their beer, but I guess that’s because they try to be a bit mainstream.

Brooklyn Lager poured a crystal clearhoney golden with handfuls of big carbonation bubbles rising to the head. A 2+ finger fluffy meringue like white head formed on the pour as it slowly receded it left sticky patch lacing down the pilsner glass. This is a really good looking beer.
Aromas of toasted malt greet the nose up front. Along with a nice even dose of grassy hops and a tea leaf like quality. Clean fresh smells.
Flavor is much the same as the aroma. Lightly toasted grains lead the way and are quickly followed by a nice balance of grassy herbal hops. The tea leaf character is in the flavor as well but more subdued.
Medium bodied but crisp and smooth. Good carbonation keeps this beer moving through the palate.
Very easy drinker. Could see myself polishing off a few bottles of this today.
High quality sessionable beer from Brooklyn. Brooklyn just recently came to Illinois and I’m looking forward to trying all of them I can get my hands on.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
330 Bottle - Lots of malt, strong sweet hops and tar like treacle. Tastes like an ale. Heavy-ish body. Good, strong flavour, full body, nice beer.
