Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

Amber in color, with a nice citrusy and slight sweet honey taste. The afertaste is slightly bitter, just right. The head was white and short lasting. Very little lacing. I enjoyed this beer a lot. Can’t wait to taste their other brews.

Bottle. Pours a clear bubbly amber-orange with an average size lasting white head -- now that’s a good looking Lager. Nice aroma of fresh floral hops along with some grain and caramel malt -- very nice! Flavour has a nice balance of floral hops and caramel malt along with some fruit and grain and a light bitter finish. It’s hoppier then your average Lager and that’s a good thing. Medium bodied. Wow, this is a fantastic Lager, I’m shocked how much I like it!

Amber with a white short lasting head. Fresh flowery hobby aroma, sweet malty medium body with a descrete hobby bitterness in the flavor. Very good for a lager!

An above average lager. Nice copper brown, firm white head. Flavourful, with mild fruity undertones, satisfying hop presence.

UPDATED: MAR 17, 2007 March 3, 2007. Bottle. Dark amber brown with a smallish white head. Lightly hoppy, very light grainy citrus notes in the aroma. Pleasant bitterness, light toasty malt flavours. Average palate. Am pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this. 7/3/7/3/14+ Courtesy of Tuqueboy.<P> Tasted Blind, March 2007. Volo IPA Challenge “Mystery Beer”
Bottle. Bright orange copper body, small creamy off-white head (3+). Perfumey floral hops in aroma with a bit of alcohol presence as it warms. Pleasant bitterness, same floral from the aroma with light citrus. Creamy but light palate. Flavour is a touch airy or washed out depending on your generosity. 6-7/3+/6-7/3+/14

355 mL bottle from LCBO. Served cold in a tulip glass. MR 01/07

App.: Clear, medium-dark amber, tight, foamy tan head. Aroma: HOPS (citrus, floral and green-resinous), some sweet malts in background. Palate: Medium-light body and fairly full carbonation. Flav.: Plenty of green, resinous hops that becomes grapefruity, a bit of roasted malt behind that (caramel and toffee). A decent bitter finish.

Overall a touch unbalanced towards hops, but still plenty nice. I’m happy that the LCBO is bringing in some decent American beer.

Nice light amber. Bright white, extremely fine head stays throughout. Beautiful bready malt nose, with a touch of treacle. Medium in the mouth, with less malt sweetness than the nose leads one to expect. Good spine of bitterness balances the malt richness. Long finish. Just beautiful with food. Solid beer. I like this a lot.

Bottle- Pours deep amber/auburn, with anm average beige frothy head. The aromas are super fresh spicy hops, floral, perfume, and some slight caramel, butterscotch. Pretty spicy and hoppy flavour profile, cirtus, thrills gum, some bready/doughy malts, cookie. Probably an americanized version of the style, which suits me fine. Spritzy, hoppy finish. Nice.

I had this on tap at Newark Airport and thought the barman made an error and brought me a pale ale. However, this bottle from the LCBO confirms that it was a lager. A nice copper amber ale with a thick lacing off white head. Surprising nice floral hops in aroma with light biscuitty malt. In mouth, this is a fresh hoppy pils, with dry crisp malt, floral hops, medium bodied. You can taste the hops upon burping. This was a great acquisition by the LCBO.

Bouteille de 355 ml. Ambrée légère, petit collet qui dure. Arome d’houblon parfumé de caramel doux et de petit fruits. Goût d’houblon fruité un peu sucré, arrière goût peu amère.
