Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

UPDATED: OCT 11, 2006 Lots of flowery hops and honey in the nose. Chewy amber body with a lasting blanket of suds. Caramel malt with a big spicy grapefruit hop finish. A wicked kick of rounded, lingering bitterness. Not dissimilar to Samuel Adams Boston Lager, and far too rich and tangy to be classified as a lager.

UPDATED: JUL 27, 2012 Golden color. Thick, frothy head lasts a long time. Aroma of fresh hops and malty. Smoth caramel flavor with a pleasant roasted wheat nose. Extremely full bodied and complex. Very nice lager.

From bottle. Great aroma of hops and honey, sweet but very distinct. Clear in appearance. Orange, yellow in colour with a thin head. I must say the taste gives an impression of quality to this beer. Tangy orange and malty. Another U.S beer ive tried recently and I am impressed. I would have this again.

Pours clear copper with a good sized light tan head. Aroma has caramel malt with some butterscotch - rich, sweet and smooth. Medium body with some sharp carbonation. Taste has the caramel / butterscotch from the aroma along with some light spice - very smooth. The finish has some sharp spicy and woody hops - fairly crisp. I think this may have been a bit old with the malt taste, but it was still enjoyable.

Poured copper, nice head - true lager - rich, full flavored, a bit flowery, as usual one of the best from the bottle

Nice strong lager with a finish that hangs around with for a good finish. A lager not for the light beer drinker.

Semi-dark lager with aroma of grapefruit and grain. Taste is grapefruit (probably from cascade hops) and bread spices. Quite lot of acidity wich make your taste buds go yay!

Just bought a book by the founder of the Brooklyn brewery, thought I’d try some of his stuff. This reminds me of Sam Adams Boston Lager- similar copper-roasted color, bright hoppiness, floral character and decidedly American taste. Enjoyed each sip. Nice one.

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2006 Bottle from Tescos, Dingwall. Lovely copper colour - looks extremely appetising. Malty and flavoursome. Nice long lasting hoppy bitterness to finish. This reminds me a lot of Budvar and i probably marginally prefer it to this. Great saazy finish but less smooth and slightly more astringent than the Budvar. This definitely make sme want to taste more of their beers!
