Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

UPDATED: APR 18, 2007 12 oz. bottle, best before 7/07. Time to start auditioning summer beers, I think, and Brooklyn’s just showing up at Sam’s Wines. Brassy color under a think eggshell head, very clear, light bubbles. Hoppy notes in the headspace come out when opened; in the glass it mingles with light but firm Vienna malts. Taste continues those Vienna malts with a matching hop profile, a little mellower than the usual Saaz. More spicy than flowery, but "flowery" is a difficult hop characteristic to preserve in a bottle. A fine American lager indeed.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2008 You know, I’ve never really been much of a lager guy. But if I was, this would be my lager of choice. Pours a nice light amber colour, with a thin creamy head. A lingering aroma of malts, and whiskey, with strong notes of hops. A very tasty treat, lots of dry hop flavour, with lighter notes of malts and caramel. Nice bitter dry finish which lasts until the next sip.The only thing that stops this beer from being amazing is the watery mouthfeel. Still a Top Notch beer. Will buy again and would certainly reccomend to lager lovers.

Sudsy white head, a lot of caramel in the flavour. Pretty sweet, but it settled in and by the end of the glass was alright. Faint yeast breadinesss.

Aroma: Thick floral citrus character. Piney resinous strawlike malt character Appearance: Light tan head with thick tight head. Copper gold Flavour: Intense rich bitterness balanced with a full crystal malt flavour. Clean, no esters or diacetyl charater. Mouthfeel: Medium full bodied sparkling with a lingering stickiness left on the lips. Overall: Complex and well balanced. Rich and assertive resinous bitterness contrasted with a full, rich, sweet but not cloying malt character.

wow. this was made more impressive from the lacluster brooklyn brews we’d had before this. lots of flavor here, malty and hoppy but pretty darn good for a vienna style lager. would definitely buy again.

355 ml bottle (5,2% abv). Small but dense off-white head over a bright, pale amber body. Nice hoppy nose along with dry malts and dry fruits. A little malty sweetness and a fair amount of bitter hops in the flavors. Not so mouthfilling as expected, a bit watery palate, but still an enjoyable and well-made lager.

Clear golden-orange body and a sudsy white head. Sweet, lightly toasted biscuity malt nose and mild spicy hop notes. Flavor follows with a nice balanced malt and hop profile. Faintly buttery and lightly sweet with moderate bitterness. A fair session amber lager.
