Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

355 ml. bottle from the supermarket. Copper(-ish) colour with a thin white head that quickly disappers. Aroma is hops, apple and pear esters, a sort af honey-biscuit malt. Flavor is honey, pear, apples, biscuits, and a understated hop presence. Overall complexity is very subtle. A very good lager - a bit off style.

Golden amber in colour with a hint of copper, not your usual lager in fact a little more like an IPA , when poured a great frothy head meets the glass and looks great, best head I had today. With floral fragrance and hint of hops and malt but not in balance, might be too malty, a citrus flavour is thrown in for good measure, labelled as “the pre-prohibition beer” on the bottle, this isn’t what I expected, for a lager i expected to taste the almost chemical burn of the mainstream lagers, but no, slightly fruity, rich dark bitter, with the vaguest hint of coffee and chocolate in the background.

355 ml bottle from Vinmonopolet. Pours a nice caramelly amber, with a good full head. Aroma is very inviting, with a full sweetness of malt, and notes of honey, fruit, a touch of spice and a good buttery caramel. Lightly burned malty taste, with notes of caramel, some bread and a hint of fruit which gives a good balance. Burned malt gives a dry bitter finish, and a long, pleasant aftertaste.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker. Pours an amber gold (light in color for a vienna) with light off-white head. Medium carbonation, medium lacing, and a little in the body. Taste is slightly toasted malt with some floral hops, and a hint of grapefruit. Didn’t quite meet my expectations.

Pretty good. Pours a nice coppery-orangish color with small head, quickly dissipating. Floral aroma with a nice bite to the flavor. Sweet, malty, woody notes. Alcohol content sneaks up just a bit. Good beer for barbecues and meals.

I am not usually a fan of lagers, but if I had to pick one to drink, this would be it.

355ml. It pours a sn amber beer with steady carbonation and a nice thin lacy head. The nose is of sultanas and sweet malt. The taste is of grapes and grapefruit and there is a grapefruit pith finish. On the palate, there is a reasonable structure for lager. There is also a reasonable texture and the finish is long and bitterly refreshing. Overall, a great summer beer.
