Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

Crystal clear amber with a small, creamy, white head that leaves clumps of lacing. The aroma is slightly toasted grains and floral, noble hops, with a touch of lemongrass. The flavor is pretty impressive; fresh grains, caramel, and a wonderful hoppy finish that blends perfectly with the malt. Just enough bitterness to fight the delicious malt. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Thought this was just another mediocre lager, boy was I wrong.

It pours an amber color with a 1 finger off white head that quickly vanishes to a cap. It has a constant amount of carb and some tiny lacing. I get a pretty huge amount of floral notes on the aroma with some subtle carmel. The flavor is pretty malty for a lager. I get some good sweet carmel notes and some floral and some decent spices. A pretty well balanced offering. It finishes dry and with some lingering grassy notes. This is not your typical lager, but something better. A very drinkable session beer.

Amber, clear color, with a not fantastic off white head. Aroma has a nice hoppy floral smell. Very drinkable and good balance. Really god Lager beer.

[Keg at House of the Trembling Madness, York] Crystal clear dark gold lager with a decent bubbly head. Classic strong American lager / Vienna components with a fruity malt backdrop that mixes with the decent hit of hops. At a nudge over 5% could this one could get very dangerous after a few. Good bitter dry finish, really very drinkable indeed [26022011]

Clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma is caramel and hoppy - fruity. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Finish is bitter. Very nice. 050305

On tap at Perro Salado - Newport, RI. Aroma is a solid, light melange of lemony hops and good toothy malt. Flavors are rich, balanced, and nothing exaggerated. There’s restraint in this beer, which I appreciate. Quaffable, yet there with something to take home. Paired well with Mexican delights of the evening, making it amenable to the situation. Thirst quenching in some elements and respectable, if slightly watered down, version of the style.

Bottle; Pour is clear amber with a modest whitish head. Grassy hops on the nose with a hint of caramel - Frankly, this brew feels more like a english pale than a vienna, for what that is worth. Also, a modest gusher upon opening as well. This brew has some nice character - slight breadiness, spiciness, and an almost nuttiness is present here, in subdued form , while the floral grassy hop presence and the lightly sweet caramel works well, overall.

Brooklyn Lager pours a nice amber color with a foamy white head. There is a a lot of lacing as it dissipates. The aroma is grainy and bready. The flavor is mild, not too bitter. It finishes crisp, but there seems to be some chalkiness in the mouthfeel. This beer is OK.
