3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Strykzone (2906) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - FEB 19, 2011
Sampled at an ESBLS tasting. This beer pours a light copper with a nice light tan head. This beer offered sweet malt and some grain. It was a bit grassy with an understated hop presence. Very nicely done.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 MacMoney (326) - Espoo, FINLAND - FEB 14, 2011
Pours cloudy and light amber with little foam. Aroma is very much of hoppy fresh fruits and caramel malts. Taste is an excellent blend of the hoppy, flowery bitterness and sweet caramel malts. Palate is medium and quite carbonated. Excellent.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 canicule (90) - IRELAND - FEB 13, 2011
Pours cloudy, dull gold colour. Nice white head with lacing. Great floral aroma. Slightly sweet taste, then a bright hoppy finish leaves a bitter, dry feel. Quite carbonated.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 adam42381 (331) - Fort Myers, Florida, USA - FEB 12, 2011
Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Spiegelau tulip. Best before July 2011 printed on bottle.
Appearance: Pours a hazy medium caramel color with golden-orange highlights and a 1-2 finger foamy off-white head. Nice lacing.
Smell: Pale malt and floral hops with a hint of spice. Very clean aroma.
Taste: Pale malt and sweet lager yeast up front followed by bready malts in the middle and ending with a surprising amount of bitter hops at the finish. Aftertaste is a nice mix of bitter and sweet. I don’t feel that this is as well-balanced as it should be in terms of overall flavor.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with a high amount of prickly carbonation.
Drinkability: Fairly high drinkability. The alcohol isn’t an issue, but the unbalanced nature of the flavors keeps this from earning top marks in my opinion.
Overall: Good beer overall. This isn’t something I’ll actively seek out, but I wouldn’t turn one down if offered to me. It’s worth trying.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 PapaSkeetSkeet (555) - Corvallis, Oregon, USA - FEB 7, 2011
dark gold to light amber with thin and fine eggshell head. Aroma is of caramel melded with slight grassy hops. Flavor is the same, with hops coming into perhaps more prominence in the aftertaste. Nice and balanced, but not very complex or difficult to describe. I am not searching for unique adjectives. Syrupy texture transforming into a moderate creamy carbonation (like the east india pale ale).
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 slugworth43 (1) - Montauk, New York, USA - FEB 7, 2011 does not count
Aroma - Crisp dry style lager smell, with a bit of canned corn aroma.
Apperarance - Thick head, light color.
Palate - dry and smooth
Overall - Different from typical American Lagers, a good beer.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 scarletfire65 (420) - Rockaway Park, New York, USA - FEB 6, 2011
Slightly hazy amber brown color. Aromas of dried fruits (raisins), pumpernickel bread, and malt. Taste is malt forward, some biscuit, but a background of floral hops. Finish is firm, crisp, dry, and simple. I could easily pound a few of these. Easy drinking, yet interesting. This is very nicely done, and I enjoyed it very much.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 Vir4030 (362) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 5, 2011
Pours a medium golden with a thickish off-white head. Mild aroma of beer. Flavor is lager-ish, sorta mild, and pretty good. Nothing offensive, but nothing really too stand-out-ish, except that it’s good.
