COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

I’m not old enough to have experienced pre-Prohibition beers but I imagine this what it tasted like. Very strong malty and rye flavor. Rich, intense classic beer flavor. A good drink.

THOUGHTS: Incredible for an American made lager. Decent session beer with great balance. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, light amber to copper with a large, foamy, off-white head that slowly diminished to a decent sheet and left excellent lacing. The aroma was light toasted and nutty malts and caramel; light to moderate, floral, herbal and resinous hops; and slight band-aid. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and light to moderately bitter; while the finish was sweet and lightly bitter with an average duration. There was caramel malt, toast and floral hops. The light to medium body was a little watery and then a little dry with fizzy carbonation and a light to moderately metallic finish.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Amber lagerish beer. Full bodied. Lingering bitter aftertaste - hard work. Average.

Very versatile beer. Pours a nice amber, with a full off-white head. Nice floral hop flavor, married with a subtle caramel body that coats the tongue. When it comes to food, this thing is an all-star.

Orange and just a little hazy. Floral, caramel and hop aroma. Bitter and a little sweet. The name of the beer could indicate the you are getting a pale lager but this is not the case.

Bottle. Red orange pour. White head. Aroma and taste of malt, caramel, and sweet brown sugar. Very sessionable.
