Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

Finally trying the original Brooklyn lager! Damn, 200 + ratings and couldn’t believe I have never rated one of the "standards" in the craft community. This Vienna-style lager is fresh and full of nice flavors, but not a huge fan of the hop selection that comes with the Vienna. It is good to finally rate one of the classics of the craft industry. A great session option.

Poured up on tap at the Tampa Pourhouse with clear deep gold body and thin off white head. The aroma is fairly spicy with hops as well as some floral, thick sweet caramel and butterscotch. The taste has a chewy rich maltiness mixing with firm spicy hops, some floral hops, a mild level of caramel, some esters and a cloud of diacetyl hovering around the edges. I think the perceived butterscotch like note adds rather than takes away from the experience. Nice lager.

Intreaging brown body, good head. Yeast, wheat, maybe some cane sugar. Full, fat texture pronouncing the sweets and bitters; delicious. Great amount of flavour for the style and quite easy to drink as well. Recommended.

Bottle. Pours clear golden orange with decent white head with a nice lacing. Caramel malt aroma, a touch of toast with nice near floral grassy notes. Light medium body, a definite malt presence with a bit of caramel, nut and toast; an advanced bitterness for the style cutting through toward the sweet finish. A very worthy lager.

Bottle. Dark amber with medium off-white head. Flavour is malt, caramel, sweet, flowery and hops.

Bottle. Pours a dark, clear orange body with a medium white top. Nose is faint grassy hops with hints of toffee. Taste is pretty similar, with some sweet floral tones reminiscent of one of my childhood’s lollipops; a sort of berry-like caramel flavor...bubblegum is perhaps one way to explain it, although we’re not talking about your regular Hubba Bubba here. Tough one. Anyway, this is certainly not an average lager, not even in the somewhat elusive "vienna" category; feels more like an APA of some kind. Nice and drinkable, but not much else.

Bottle. Pours a golden color with a thin white cap. Lots of bubbles. Aroma is of fresh malts, some caramel and a bit of hop presence. Taste is the same. This is very well balanced. You get a nice malt flavor upfront balanced well by a hint of bitterness with perfect carbonation. Boring style, very good beer.

A good lager, strong hopflavours from the dryhoping. Its fresh, not very exciting flavourwise, but a well made beer with more taste than usually from a lager.
