Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

Clear orange-ish color. Low to medium carbonation. Complex aroma. Nice fruitiness from the amber malts, bready. Bright American hops. A bit of potato? Fairly dry, with a good dose of light toast. Nice grassy, hoppiness in the finish. Refreshing. A very good lager.

On tap at Cahilty Creek. Clear bright orange copper, firmer white foam settles and lasts. Solid toasted caramel lager malt aroma and taste, citrus hint, some grassy hop. Average carbonation, light bodied, lightly hopped. LF (Lagerboy Friendly) ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours clear copper. Aroma is malty, bready. Malty taste, some hop kick. Almost nutty. Not the most flavorful beer, but a solid lager.

C’est un truc un peu traînant, qui hésite, qui ne sait pas trop vers quoi aller. Vague et Lassant.

This is what a lager should be; light fresh refreshing and crisp. So no to corn syrup, rice, diluted hop extract and the skunk provided from green bottles. Instead enjoy the presence of hops and the crisp fresh bitterness they provide, enjoy a malt backbone that somehow is light; full and which allows the hops to shine, all the same time. I am prone to hyperbole: but this could be the best lager I’ve had. The perfect recommendation to someone new to crafy beers

Smells fruity, with the malt shining through. Taste of biscuit-dough, solid maltyness, a bit of caramel and some light citrusy fruit. Bitter, but not too much. Poors a nice dark amber, medium carbonation. First craft lager I had. Good, really good.

Pours clear amber with a frothy, yet stable white head. Nice lacing. Nice aroma of hops and yellow fruits, some raisins as well, yeasty, slightly malty. Flavor lacks a bit, compared with the aroma. It is a bit on the watery side of the palate and it tends to taste ’watery’ as well. Yet, it is not that bad. The hoppiness, mild bitterness and that slight fruity and yeasty kick have a beautiful thirst quenching character and it is actually pretty lovely to drink in comparison to other lagers. Texture is like mentioned before a bit on the watery side. Could have had a tad more body as well, but that’s something which is common among lagers. But in general a well-crafted and well-balanced brew. Certainly enjoyable.
