Apr 15, 2008 Updated: Jun 16, 2008Bottle. Pours amber, clear, with a two fingered off white head int a Sam Adams lager glass. Aroma is a bit of sweet malt mixed in with a nice hoppy floral aroma, though understated. Flavor is nice and basic: very drinkable balance of malt, caramel up front fading into a nice dry, hoppy bite at the end. Versatile, drinkable beer.

Apr 12, 2008 341mL bottle from the LCBO. Pours dark gold, with a large off-white head. Soft malty aroma. Flavour of dryish malt with nicely assertive hops (with just a touch of citrus in the opening).

Apr 8, 2008 Draught at the Magician, New York City. This was served too cold, of course, but it’s still a classic beer: full-flavoured with a nice sweet malty base and a long, dry finish. I had this several times on my recent visit to New York and it made me wish (and I know that this is sacrilege for a Camra member) that there were decent keg beers widely available in the Britain so I wouldn’t have to drink John Smith’s or Guinness when I go to bars with no cask beers.

Apr 6, 2008 Pours a clear reddish amber with a thick creamy white head. Aroma is honey with a bit of hops. The flavor is malty with a nice little hop kick to it. Somewhat grassy on the finish. Pretty decent lager.
