Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

Pours an average frothybwhitebhrad that slowly but almost completely diminishes. Body is clear sparkling yellow. Aroma contains light malts (light bread, cereal), light hops (flowers, lemon, orange), light yeasts (dough) and banana, grape, apple and some forest fruits. Flavor is light acidic, then light acidic and light sweet, followed by light acidic, light swet and light bitter and finishing with light bitter. Body is medium with creamy texture and soft carbonation. A good lager with more flavor then many others. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Poured a cleaer golden yellow with little head. Aroma was lager yeast, floral, and citrus. Flavor was typical lager yeast, but also had a bit of fruit in it with grapefruit and lemon. Nice little addition there. Light body and thin texture. Carbonation was average and smooth to finish. Nothing stands out, but easy-drinking if you love lagers.

A lager with slightly more complexity. Fruity with a touch of alcohol. A nice hoppy finish.

Copenhagen 13/6 2015. 35,5 cl bottle from Føtex. Pours slightly hazy golden yellow with small white head. Disappears almost immediately. Aroma is slightly fermented sweet fruit. Medium carbonation. Taste is fruity as well. You can sense a bit of alcohol. Not too strong - but nice - bitterness in aftertaste. Nice lager. More fruity than most Europeans lagers.

Tap at newsroom. Copper, more than expected, with white head. Smells very grainy. Nice sharp malt with some sweetness. Pretty good for a lager.

Bottle @ home. Pours with a dark orange colour, small white head. Aroma is medium malty, with notes of bread, and medium hoppy, with notes of herbs. Taste is medium sweet, medium bitter. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation.

Bottle 355ml, Albert Heijn. Pours clear copper coloured. Beige head, bubbly. Nose of corn and noble hops. Aged hops / cheese over marmelade too. Quite monotonous, lacks malt character as well as true hop aroma. But certainly above average for a lager.

Pours clear medium gold with one finger of medium dense white head, good retention and moderate patchy lacing. (4/5) Nose is caramel malt, grassy and floral, hint of citrus. (6/10) Taste is mild to moderate sweet, very mild bitter. (6/10) Medium-light body, moderate carbonation, short duration slightly bitter finish. (3/5) Definitely a prohibition-era lager: much more robust and less crisp than today’s typical light lagers, yet still easy-drinking and refreshing. Some of the hop flavours (especially the citrus) build and become more apparent as the glass progresses, making me like this a bit more than I first thought. Not great, perhaps, but worth trying, especially on a hot day. (13/20)
