Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

Deep copper color......very fluffy head. Fragrant hop aroma. Malt sweetness up front, extremely well balanced by a noticeable hop flavor......slightly crisp mouthfeel. Taste of hops continues in the back, with a long, slightly bitter finish. Probably the best lager I have ever tasted.

Bottle from The Ducie, Manchester. Reddish-brown in colour with slightly off-white head. Citrus hop aroma with biscuit malts. Very floral taste with spicy characteristics and a bitter finish. Perhaps a bit too lively carbonation. In looks and character this is a close cousin to a flavoursome English bitter. Reading other reviews it would seem this is a different colour the world over. Odd, eh?

Carrefour Grenoble 2.65€. On ne sait jamais quoi attendre des bières américaines, mais celle-ci est intéressante. Le nez est puissant, le goût suit, très florale.

Pours a clear reddish amber with a thick creamy white head. Aroma is honey with a bit of hops. The flavor is malty with a nice little hop kick to it. Somewhat grassy on the finish. Pretty decent lager.

50 cl draught@Oslo Airport in Brooklyn Lager glass@approx 7 degrees Centigrade. Pours clear orange with medium white head. Pretty faint aromas of malt and caramel with some American hops also present. The dry-hopping coming clearly through with a taste of floral American hop nicely balanced with malt, roasted malt and caramel. Not sweet, just round. Slightly bitter, lingering aftertaste. More hops, more taste that most lagers and I like that. Another good brew from Brookly Brewery.

This is a very drinkable and good tasting beer. I had this on tap at a local restaurant. It had a touch of caramel and bread taste. IT was suttle and good.

There’s a honeyed caramel note on the nose whereas the palate has more hops with a lovely mild bitter, hoppy finish. There’s a great, creamy body to it as well. A wonderful lager.

pours brilliant copper color with medium white head. aroma is overwhelmingly hoppy, especially for style. very nice floral hop flavor with a farily complex malt backbone. drinks almost more like a light ipa than a lager....really yummy beer.

Big on the malt (as advertised) which had me pleased, it was also nice to see the respectable hop profile presented here. Strong floral hops help balance a semi-sweet, doughy malty flavor. This beer will not blow your mind, but it is a highly enjoyable lager, and reasonably priced and widely available to boot.
