Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

A solid American lager; pours light amber with a rocky, frothy white head. Aroma of piney hops and sweet malt; flavors are well-balanced between light and carmel malts. Straightforward and well-crafted, nothing fancy but pleasant.

330ml bottle (or thereabouts) - pours dark golden with white head. Fresh - hoppy aroma and flavour. Medium body - good lager

Unexpectedly caramel/orange body, moderately carbonated, with a filmy off-white head. Sweet malt, light esters in the nose (apple and sweet potato), floral as well. Tea-like flavors, earthy, woody, with a drying finish. A nice effort, but I find it to be a bit too dry and lacking in the thirst quenching department.

pour rich golden with a decent but collapsing foam, quite active carbonation. The aroma is hoppy with some malty bready notes and this one goes down easily. the flavour is subtle malt with some hop highlights..

500 ml bottle - Apart from the spectacularly iconic branding, it isn't anything special. A session lager, no real head and dark brown colour.

Bottle at restaurant. Pours an amber gold with slight white head. Aromas are floral and green hops. Tastes dry and slightly bitter. Thinking of a grapefruit. Ok, a bit yeasty on the impression.

12 ounce bottle. Copper in color, white foamy head. Grapefruity and hoppy. It nice. I think I would like it more when it gets warmer out. Nice carbonation...just right. Lots of great flavor. Nice beer.

UPDATED: APR 21, 2009 bottle: Reminds me a lot of JR Brickman Amber. It has that sharp almost apple taste. Feels more like an IPA it is so bitter. I wish this had more malts or sweetness to round out the finish. Give me a Headstrong any day. However, this is a beer you can really settle into with some spicy food. It will stand up against some serious flavour.

Clear light copper, foamy head that hangs around for a while, nice lacing. Aroma of resiny, piney hops. Very crisp to begin, prickly carbonation and bitterness on the front of the tongue, very lively. A bit malty with a hint of caramel and bread Finishes with just the right bitterness, and a citrus hop bite. Flowery, resiny hops in the aftertaste. This beer gave me a while new faith in lagers after I had written them of forever.

UPDATED: APR 8, 2004 Bottle. Pours amber/brow. Small head. Smelled hoppy with a touch of caramel a little like SNPA. The taste is great and gets even better when it warms. Good hop to malt balance in the finish. Excellent
