Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

Good for a Viennese lager. Has a nice label, which is probably my favorite part of this beer. Otherwise, the flavor is kind of flat, but it’s decent if you damn near freeze it.

Pours an amber body with a small head. Hoppy and somewhat funky aroma. Nice taste, but nothing special.

On tap at the Admiral’s Club in JFK. Sweet malt, orange blossom and soft perfume aromas. Pours a clear deep gold with slight amber hues. Full white head falls away to a wide collar and dusting across the top. Collar is of minuscule bubbles. Massive lacing down the glass. Taste is lemony and slight soap. Crisp and semi-dry. Medium-thin mouthfeel. There is an orange juiciness that pervades the back half of the taste. Excellent, but seems to lack the classic malt of the style.

Bottle from Tesco. It pours clear amber with a thick off-white head. The nose is toasty grain, biscuit, brown bread, floral and light caramel. The taste is crisp, toasty grain, nice bitterness, brown bread, biscuit, light florals, caramel and pithy lemon with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Well rounded, crisp and crushable. What’s not to like?

The best American lager I had. It has complexity and aroma of an ale, crispness of a lager. Refreshing, simple, yet interesting and different. Far away from usual pale lagers out there.

Bottle. Blonde. Floral grassy citric aroma, like Tettnag hops. Floral, grassy fruity hopbitter flavor, lingering on in the aftertaste. Surprisingly good!

(Brooklyn Lager) Bottle 355 ml at home , poured into a glass tankard, ABV 5.2% Clear body, deep golden orange in colour, with a thick soapy head, slightly off-white. Small but with a good retention, it leaves medium lacing on the glass. Nice hoppy aroma, some caramel and peppery hints, with light floral notes. Taste of light caramel, hops, grass, some spices but can’t say exactly what. Mild bitterness on the aftertaste. Medium body, nicely carbonated. Quite dry palate. Pretty good.

Bronze/copper colour with a slightly off white head. A nice whiff of floral hops - gentle but very forward. A nice sweet lager - hints of honey and beautiful malts. Floral hops also present. Good but not great density, nice light carbonation.
