Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

I thought it was mostly a hype, but this beer is indeed surprisingly good for a lager. Fresh and quite hoppy. Good.

Medium bodied, nice color. A solid lager but more interesting beers out there from Brooklyn

Quite intense hoppy nose, pleasantly fruity, light malt background, sames goes for taste, thou finish is quite disappointing - thin and bit metallic, that goes in contrast with awesome start. Light sweet with moderate bitterness. Overall decent lager, good for its style

So this is the father of the craft beer movement? Golden colour, lasting white head. Very hoppy aroma, with some citrus notes. Taste is caramel, with a smooth bitterness. Refreshing.

"nice delicate balance of floral and citrus hops with a touch of biscuity malt. light and airy, this is a very nice session beer. looks typical for the style, but smell & flavor well above average."

Classic Vienna lager from New York apparently made to a pre-Prohibition era recipe. Pours a warm and pretty orange blonde colour, clear with very quiet sparkling on tiny bubbles, under a creamy, dense, yellowish, quite stable head leaving attractive lacing. Aroma is on the weak side and mostly reveals American hoppiness, with hints of grapefruit, orange peel, mango, caramelly malts, walnuts, biscuit, tobacco and perhaps a faint hint of iron. Smooth, slick palate with medium carbonation, soft onset of dried fruits and caramelly malts, nuttier in the middle, finishing in a citrus peel-like, somewhat peppery hop bitterness of relative length, through which the slightly toasted maltiness shows up as well. This style seems the bottom-fermented equivalent of the English pale ales and bitters, and this one is very true to it. Nothing extraordinary, just plain enjoyable. Could drink this all night.

Not too bad. A pretty sweet and mellow bear. Above average amber lager. Caramel notes in the body and a sweet finish. Some hops but not much.

UPDATED: MAR 30, 2015 Bottle, 330ml. Pours medium-light brown, clear, with amedium-short light beige head. Aroma is gentle: white whine, lightly hoppy and slight malt, somewhat fruity. Body is medium-light with soft carbonation but a strong tang. Mouth feel is slightly oily to watery, but not too thin. Tastes slightly sour, bu pleasantly so, slight sweetness and light hoppy bitterness, very well balanced. Flavors of light malt and strong american hops, herbal, lightly bitter, and quite citrucy, quite fruity. The sweet-sour-bitter flavors are playing well together, keeping each sip interesting and fresh tasting. The beer is refreshing, but not too light, it’s complex flavor prevents it from being drunk too quickly.

Bottle shared at home. Golden with white head. Light dry spices at first with dry biscuits, cake, peach, dried plums. Endive bitterness with some grass. Dry at first with some sweetness coming through and ending light bitter. Medium bodied. Bit chalky feel. Nice, but the palate is not my thing.
