Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

Can from State line liquors. Pours with a brownish tint and a half inch of foam. Not getting much from the nose except for a note of floral. Lots of hop flavor on the tongue with a hint of bitterness on the finish.

Had this at an airport in Norway. Not much on the nose, medium head that goes away quickly. Taste. is caramel and fruits. It has the typical lager aftertaste, but this feels more complex for the style. Very nice for a session beer.

White foamy full lasting head. Amber colour. Aroma is malty, fruity with peach and light floral and hoppy notes. Flavor is malty too with fruity (pear, peach) and light spicy (cloves) tones, ending in a balanced, slightly hoppy finish. Light to medium bodied.

Decent beer. No way a 90 though. A little better than a Sam Adams boston lager (tasted side by side) straight forward grain malt with creamy mouth feel.

Mildly hazy amber color with a filmy white head and some good lacing. Nose has an aroma of yeasts, floral hops, toffee notes and some mild caramelized malts. Flavor-wise, you have caramelized malts, yeasts, mild citrus hops & piney hops. Aftertaste is bittersweet and a bit grassy. Moderate in weight and the carbonation is a couple notches below moderate as well. Decent offering but not my favorite from Brooklyn Brewing.

UPDATED: JUN 27, 2013 Just had this from a can as opposed to bottle for the first time, still tastes great. Pours a clear orange with a small white head. Proves you can have great tasting lager, light body, crisp taste and mellow hop finish.

Bottle. Aroma has some touches of hop. Bitter taste but also some heavy touches. Ok lager but not my favorite.

Amber with a finger white head. Cara malts, spices and some hops in nose. In mouth is kinda boring. Caramel, some cereal, spices and some hops in the end. Carbonation is soft and bitternes is medium. I can not understand why everybody says that’s the best lager. Here in germany I can buy 20 lagers that there are better in half price just in my town...

BOTTLE. Head: white, small, frothy, avg. retention. Colour: amber, slightly hazy. Aroma: strong caramel. Taste: starts caramel, then gets drier and bitter. Quite sweet, but balanced by decent amount of bitterness.
