Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

Deep brown color and rather oily on the palate, no doubt from the heavy addition of hops. Rather grassy aroma and a nice dense and creamy head.

Nice lager. Bigger bolder than normal. Then again, normal for me is American Marcobrew, so lots is better than that. Nice coppery apperance. Good hoppy edge. Very nice beer.

Like the Brown Ale, smooth and full, with bold head, but hoppy with little aftertaste.

First tried on tap at a social function. Nice beer. It has a thick, rich flavor. Substantial is a good word. A great everyday drinker.

Clear amber brew with a small, creamy white head. Good lacework. The aroma is floral and malty with a hint of cocoa. This lager tastes hearty, malty and well-hopped. Acetic, not bitter, hops seem to have been used. Excellent balance. Light-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and fairly lively carbonation. Short, crisp finish. Like all other viennas that I've tasted, this beer would probably go very well with a meal.

i was hoping not to be disappointed with this beer but I was. Very nice color but that is as far as it goes. Very light bodied, no aroma, no head and a bad aftertaste.

UPDATED: APR 18, 2005 A really good lager, somewhat in the mold of Samuel Adams Boston Lager, but much better. Sweetish malts give way too a nicely hoppy spicy, dry-ish finish, lots of flavour, yet mildly refreshing, really nice quaffer.

Light malt and a little floral aroma. Color is a "clear amber" if there is such a thing. Nice hoppy initial flavor although it somewhat hides the malt. Doesn't have the caramel backbone I've come to expect from Vienna's, definitely the most hoppy version that I have tasted. A bit more malty as the beer warms. Probably not a true Vienna.
