Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

This accurate lager was my first introduction to craft beer. The Hoppy aroma and well balanced bitterness/sweetness make it my first recommendation for any new comers to specialty beer.

This is one of the best Lagers on the market. It is consistently smooth and flavorful while packing more of a punch than most beers in this category. It is as full bodied as a beer of this style can be and it works great.

One of my favorite lagers. I have drinking this beer since my restaurant days in Norfolk, Virginia in the mid 1980’s. A great full bodied lager with great color and taste as well.

Pours a deep tawny golden color. Thick, frothy head lasts a long time. Aroma of fresh hops greets the drinker (Cascades?). Wow! Very impressive lager! Well balanced malty to hops…maybe just a bit hoppier than expected. Reminiscent of Samuel Adams Boston Lager in style and flavor but better. The bottle calls this “The Pre-Prohibition beer.” If so, they knew what they were doing back then. It’s difficult to classify this beer to a particular style though. Definitely not a Pils and the hops are too evident for a Munich, Dortmunder or Vienna. Whatever it is, it is good. The amount of hops in this beer is on par with a fine American pale ale. Excellent job. I really enjoyed it.

One of the great sessionable beers. Does a little of caramel, hops, slightly dry and sweet. Just right if you want to have a few pints. Lovely.

Tasted from a bottle poured into a glass, this beer is always a favorite. A great example of how a lager can be delicious without being boring ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Best commercial lager in the world. Lager is probably the worst type of beer, but this one is more like IPA ora APA. Darker colour than any other lager in the world, red dark orange gold. Small light beige top. Nice taste, bitter finish. Also nicely carbonate. I do not know why it is called Vienna lager, because it is really good American type of beer. Sometimes Americans think that Eu name is something more precious.
