COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

The favorite American lager to date! Full bodied(for a lager) nice malt balnce and quite hoppier then what’s out there.

UPDATED: NOV 11, 2003 On a warm Saturday afternoon in May, took one of those bikerides that took me a lot further than I probably should have went. During a much needed pit-stop, I enjoyed two excellently poured pints of this Lager accompanied by a heaping order of pommes frites with curry mayonaise. This is a filling and smooth, albeit pretty typical lager. Hints of toasted nuts and citrus. Hopsy, but not overboard. A little bite never hurt anyone. Good head and sweet aroma. Too bad the frites gave me indigestion on that long ride home! I've never been let down by a Brooklyn beer!

I drinkit all the time and never review it. So why not today? I picked up a six pack at Wegmans. This is a great lager. Not like what the macro breweries have done to the name. It has a really nice foral scent with a nice smooth malty and hoppy taste. Brooklyn has made one of the best lagers outside of Germany.

I hadnt had one of these in a while and was really pleasantly suprised at how great it was. Really full flavored, nice body. A little sweet and flowery nose with some malt. Just enough hops to keep it smooth and not too thick. Ill be drinking this more often.

Comes out of the tap a beautiful clear orange amber with a thick, pale butter-tan head that leaves some substantial lacing. Aroma is strong, malty and slightly fruity. Malty flavor has firm fruity underpinning and a slight hoppy note. Firm-bodied texture is smooth, fizzy and lively. Normally I don’t care much for lagers, but this is a happy exception.

On Tap. Deep Amber, moderate head and good condition. Initial flowery hop aromas followed by a malty toast and bread note. Pine resin, hops and citrus notes in the mouth with some caramel malt and a long hoppy finish that dries toward the end. I added a slice of lemon.

Finally! Pours deep amber/copper with big off-white head. Deep caramel malts, brown sugar, baked bread, light citrus and floral hops. Big flavor - toasted biscuit, light caramel and sugar and a nice broad hop bitterness to balance. Toasted malt and hop bitterness slide out to the end. Crisp and light hop dryness, medium body. Big, bold, rustic lager. Tastes like fall in a bottle. Coming from a lager culture, this can’t be appreciated enough. Near lager perfection.

This is what I expect from a lager. Nice golden color, thick white head. Floral, hoppy aroma. Medium toasty, hoppy, malty flavor - really nicely balanced. Dry, bitter finish that just makes me want to take another sip. I could drink this beer all day long.

Pretty excellent, all around. Well-balanced as one could ask for, with just the right hop profile and level of maltiness. The nose and appearance are just about perfect.
